  • I wonder if it is the IT magic. Recently I needed a group to fill a table with values from a test that produced a radar chart. Click on the point, get a numeric value, not too hard. The only complication was that it was a “totally legally disctinct”-test so translated differently and truncated from the proper test. So I worked out translations and a table in order.

My instructions was that you start at 9 o’clock and fill in the table clockwise.

Cue constant question regarding translations and where whatever value should go, while I had done the work and all they needed to do was follow a simple instruction to fill it out as directed. I did that work for them, I don’t even remember the translations, that’s why you should follow the simple instruction.

Group of all ages, just somehow unable or unwilling not to try and express themselves in that was supposed to be 30 seconds of data entry.

  • Phones are aggressively hostile to any file management. Many apps just straight up don’t give control of actual directories to end users. Manually modifying the directories of software at all is effectively hidden under an exploit and outside legacy conversions it is hard to meaningfully change anything even that way.

So I would not blame youngsters that don’t have personal computers. Mobile OS obscure the use and neuter the potential of learning the file system, there are massive hurdles for fringe benefits, completely different from especially PC use in our time where this was fundamental knowledge and enabled doing all kinds of interesting and useful stuff.

Funnily gaslighting wasn’t really a big independent job. In London where there were actually enough public gaslights for it to be an endeavour policemen who were walking around the streets at the crack of dawn and setting of the sun anyway were often made to do this while at it. And several other minor tasks like waking up subscribing citizens, it was good that those patrols weren’t typically busy in regards of actual policing.

So professional gaslighters, not much of a thing, their poor reputation very much a thing.

  • Well it depends on your definition of God. And omnipotent being if they existed would clearly be evil. Are they then still divine?

Does merely being powerful then qualify a being for divinity? Gods in many mythologies do not have to be immortal either.

Thus if we use one of the looser definitions of god, every US president in over a century can be considered a god as could various historical figures, gods therefore definitely exist.

I do believe that for many definitions of god, it can be proven they do not exist. And if you define god as a powerful entity deserving of human fealty one clearly doesn’t exist.
