  • Regional Powers like Brazil, India, China and the EU are moving away from Swift which is under US majority control , and/or the US owned Mastercard/Visa system ( #E):

“The rise of “sovereign” systems, especially in Europe, a big source of Visa’s and Mastercard’s international business, could erode their enviable operating margins of over 50%. In their latest annual reports, both companies brought up “preferential” treatment of domestic payments systems as a risk to business. That may be one reason why investors have lately been lukewarm about the two giants, despite healthy earnings. After a sustained climb starting in 2023, their share prices have declined in the past year (see chart).”

  • Though I share your concern regarding possible censorship and information restrictions etc, according to the article:

"After approval by the Senate earlier Tuesday, members of the National Assembly passed the bill by 279 votes to 81. "

This is a very high approval rate in favour of the bill in France , where they can’t almost agree on anything. Also, according to this eurobarometer:

" The risk of cyberbullying or harassment that children face on social media (mentioned by 71% of respondents) and the risk of online grooming or sexual exploitation that children face on social media (70%) are the biggest concerns of Europeans".

So this appears to be genuinely on the agenda of most Europeans.

  • didn’t really hear about that before now?

Zelensky sacked the cabinet including MOD Federov. This sparked protests considering the momentum Federovs changes and successes realised during his 6 month career.

So, afaik, it’s said that Federov and Syrskyi were having strong disagreements and this was creating a disruptive atmosphere in the Cabinet and Army. Also since recently there have been more & more disgruntled U.A militaries about the way Syrskyi was running the military (some even calling him a " butcher").
