  • RFK Jr. wanted to lead the USA’s health department against a believed massive conspiracy by big-Whatever. Trump gave RFK Jr. a slot so RFK Jr. didn’t split the far-right crazy vote in the 2024 election.

In 2024, RFK Jr. launched an independent bid for the presidency after floating challenging Joe Biden’s spot in the Democratic Party. RFK Jr. had no chance of winning the Democratic primary or an independent bid; but being a conspiracy theorist and all-around horrible person, it was possible that RFK Jr. may have split enough of that population from key states to cause Trump to lose. That conspiracy theory nonsense really doesn’t hold water in the Democratic voter base. The folks who would choose RFK Jr. over Harris or Trump, would otherwise choose Trump over Harris.

Recall that in 2016, Trump won many key states with <54% of the vote; and in 2020, Biden flipped those key states after Trump’s mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic and other controversies. Even losing 3% of the popular vote in a few states to RFK Jr. may have cost Trump the election in 2024, or so it was feared.

Lots of people here are giving explanations of why the citizens may support RFK Jr. and, while that is all true, the reality is most of Trump’s campaign staff are just loyalists (i.e. Pam Bondi), alt-right conspiracy theorists (i.e. Kash Patel), and folks who assisted in his election campaign (i.e. Elon Musk, Dr. Phil). Many of these are figures are people largely unknown of until they were appointed to be Trump’s staff. RFK Jr. leads the HHS because he was given that role by Trump. As to why the USA folk chose Trump; Well, we’ve been having that conversation for 15 months now.

  • Cut people out of your life that mistreat you. Do not make yourself miserable for some hypothetical better future.

It’s okay to try things without a full plan in place. It’s okay to drop things that aren’t working out; but do not rush to do so.

Invest yourself fully in your efforts. It’s okay if it doesn’t turn into anything. Even if you don’t end up with a tangible outcome, you’ll learn skills, you’ll learn about yourself, and you’ll find clarity in the bigger picture.

Do not constantly bog yourself down by repeatedly self-assessing. It’s a waste of energy and you’ll end up disappointed in the outcome of whatever you’re focused on.

Free yourself from fear of judgement. Look at how many morons are in positions of status and power. Criticizing you is a waste of time and energy. It’s foolish when others to do it, and it’s foolish to pre-emptively criticize yourself to get ahead of what others might say. (If you take any lesson here, let it be this one.)

  • Having kids is a life-long commitment. Not having kids is simply the absence of said commitment. IVF and adoption are also always options, even after conceiving children becomes nonviable.

The bigger picture is: you can’t do everything in life, and often, the dreams you envision aren’t as romantic as a daily reality as they seem in your head. It’s okay to give up that option of a future permanently. There are tens of thousands of opportunities to add to your life, big and small. You will never even attempt most of them, and that’s okay. There is no syllabus or checklist or achievement board to fill out in life, unless you make one.

Having kids isn’t a hobby you can put down for a month, nor a job you can quit. You should absolutely be 100% on-board before having kids, and if you aren’t, don’t gaslight yourself into thinking you are.

  • Getting rid of the filibuster would be good for our Democracy. That’s what has been used regularly by Republicans to stall and blockade acts in the Senate. Would that have happened? I don’t think so. Trump was demanding Republicans to remove the Filibuster on Truth, but Trump’s Truth Social posts are the least consistent metric for what this administration will do.

About the shutdown: from a humanitarian view, communities were banding together; giving with food drives and free meals to feed people when SNAP benefits were withheld – and that withholding was being challenged in the courts. Lower courts sided with the states on giving out that money. The SCotUS ended up copping out on making a decision because the shutdown was reversed. Had they made a choice, I think the SNAP benefits would have been distributed. At the very least, Senate Dems could have waited until the ruling was made.

You know what communities can’t band together to distribute? Healthcare. The ACA funding was far more important than SNAP benefits.

  • “Gavin Newsom-” aaand the comments are flooded lmao. I mean, I despise Newsom as much as I can, but, also, this is World News.

In the spirit of a non-USA news subreddit, I’ll point out that California governor Newsom feels like a weird speaker for a world economic event. Yes, I know Newsom had to deal with the Republican administration when ICE and the military were deployed to Los Angeles, CA; but if you’re looking for a leader to advise you on opposing Trump from an economic standpoint, wouldn’t an economic department head from Canada be a better choice?

Canada’s been dealing with Republican isolationist tariff policy fairly well from what I know. Facing the most direct pressure over the “51st state” invasion threats, the Canadian population is pushing away from USA brands and investing in domestic products. With alllll the nations facing tariffs from the USA, surely a dialogue about encouraging such shifts in a population would be valuable.

  • It’s worse because it has been 11 years since Ferguson. This is how civil rights and government standards are eroded. You have a chip (two journalists being arrested and brutalized in 2014 filming a protest) and when it goes unpunished, it gets repeated across the nation until it becomes the norm.

Similar chips happened during the BLM protests, which were themselves a crackdown to the murder of black citizens in broad daylight by police. I recall watching a news reporter shot while broadcasting on TV at night during a 2021 BLM protest. The same happened to reporters in Los Angeles in 2025. Then we saw bystanders in LA being shot in the head. Then Renee Good was shot in the head her car.

It all builds on itself, as government gets increasingly confident in their strength and the passivity of its population. None of this is new; it’s just expanding.
