What would you recommend I do so that I wouldn’t have ran into those issues? Suck it up and keep dealing with the headaches?
I’m no fan of Windows either, but it lets me play games when I want to play them.
Agreed, I switched my gaming rig to Linux for 6 months and was so excited to get things working. Went back to windows on it because I kept going to play with friends, and would often have to mess with Proton versions (again) to get the game working.
I really enjoy the Grounded games, so when Grounded 2’s early access was about to release I switched back to avoid dealing with those issues.
Still rocking Linux on my non-gaming devices though, aside from SteamDeck.

After a refresh, I see you’re right.

Edit: welp, refreshed the post after commenting, this is getting locked.
We may lock this post if too many people break rules 5 or 7, please be nice to each other even if you don’t or can’t agree.
Also, just because we’ve already received a few reports for comments here: Our jobs as mods is not to remove things we disagree with, but to remove things that break LW rules, or community rules.
Free, free.

Same, I’ll bring some snacks

Thats our automod, we keep an eye out for blogs. Every now and then we get spammed with personal blogs about off-topic things.

That’s 931GB, so about 1TB.
I would do TreeSize then, make sure to run it as admin (there’s an option once you open it in the top left). Have that scan all your folders on that drive, then expand the biggest folders to see what’s eating all that space up. If you lookup any files that you aren’t sure if they’re important, usually you’ll find some discussions about whether that file is critical or not (for example, if they’re in c:\windows\system32). Comb through each large folder and see what you can clean-up, and that’ll give you some space back hopefully, or at least show you what you’re storing that’s eating it all up.

I think you forgot to include the link ;)

For space: Check what your largest files are, then see if its safe to remove them. Tools like TreeSize are great for this specific usecase.
For performance: Narrow down exactly whats causing it to hit 100% usage. To do that, open task manager, then click the hard drive column. Sort it so they most utilize process is at the top, and that will be whats causing it to max.
Another thing you could try is running these two commands in an elevated powershell/cmd window (right click start, select “run cmd as admin”):

Yes I’m a mod, and thank you ;]

I’m not sure where this is rude or off-topic to your question, it is direct but on-topic:
You can do pretty much whatever you want man…
Like “vegan” isn’t even a century old yet, it was made up in the 1940s by some guy who thought vegetarians weren’t good enough, and he set whatever rules he wanted to.
You can just keep using his word, but not care about his rules.
Or you can make up your own name and rules.
People searching for labels they like and then conforming to every fucking aspect of that label and nothing else, doesn’t work out well.
So please, if you want to eat roadkill just do it.
And then this is your rude reply to that comment, which violates the rules:
Cool comment but did you want to answer the question, or just bitch about nothing?
They didn’t break a rule, you did and so your comment was removed. Not to even mention, none of this follows what you claim in this post. Nowhere did they say the question was stupid, and they did stay on-topic.

Just because that one is pretty old we are going to leave it, but in the future reports help us catch these. All of us have jobs and families outside of the community, we do this for the enjoyment of others, so reports are heavily relied on and appreciated.

Final edit: based on mod logs it appears this OP is being disingenuous, but the below still stands. We appreciate anyone who reports in good faith, and welcome any messages if you feel like we got things wrong.
Please report those, we will remove them. If we removed your comment for being rude and not theirs, then we did not read their rude comment calling the question stupid, and that’s our bad.
Also, my DM’s are always open if you disagree with a removal, anyone who has spoken with me before will vouch that I’m fairly reasonable as long as things don’t break rules (such as gray areas).
Edit: could you link the comment you’re talking about? The only thing I could find is this, which doesn’t appear to be what you’re talking about, but the response you gave to them was rude

The vote question would be better suited for the admin team and not mods, as we are just over this community.
Too many people being nasty in this thread, so we’ve removed the negative comments for rule 3.
