They didn’t abandon the cat, it was a cat who was let out when he wanted that just decided to go to our door. I fully agree that anyone who abandons pets should be banned from ever being able to have one, but it’s not the case here. They, the “owners”, said that they had started looking at places that would take him in to be adopted by someone else (not that I can say if it’s true or not). They got the cat before their kids were born, and they realised the kids and the cat don’t work together. Only negative I can say about the parents is that they decided to get rid of the cat instead of teaching their kids to not be assholes towards animals.

  • Not with a good ad and annoyances blocker. I reformatted my hard drive recently and the few pages I had to visit before installing that really opened my eyes to how bad it is, and how most people just live with it being. Hadn’t experienced much of any of these the past several years, and it has gotten a lot worse since I did. I’ve noticed that most people I know who are not that tech-savvy have stopped going to websites or even trying anything online other than a very small selection of apps, and now that makes total sense.

My family had 4 cats when I was born, all had been found as stray kittens or literally come to the door and begged to get in (second story of an apartment building with lots of other choices of doors). We found the owner of one and they just said “keep him, we realised a while ago we shouldn’t have gotten a pet in the first place”.
Then when I was a teenager a cat came to our door just the same, during a huge storm, went directly into my room where I was sleeping and laid down basically on top of me and stayed there the whole night. I remember waking up thinking “who the fuck is this?”.
We bonded immediately and he became mine more than ours. A few weeks after that we found the family he had come from and they also just told us to keep him because they had two 3-year-olds who weren’t playing nicely with him and they saw that he had a better home with us.
He moved out with me when I got my own apartment and we were best friends till he passed about 10 years later (he was already 5 when he came to us). Haven’t gotten a pet of any kind since then, he was the best cat and friend I’ve ever had/known. Still dream about him at least once a month and it’s been 8 years since he passed.

It’s been awesome to see how it went from something you had to go to vegan only stores or order online to now when it’s the norm, now it’s just checking every kind you buy because a few still have animal products in them but as you said, it’s mostly vegan. It’s just non-dark chocolate that’s normally not vegan now, and I don’t expect that to change.

  • Yeah, the only two antivaxxers I know (more did know) have fried their brains to mush with drugs so them believing that shit isn’t surprising. I did lots of drugs in my 20s and knew a lot of people who did even more than me, and the two people who were always the “worst” with their use are the only ones I am aware of who are antivaxxers (In Sweden, it’s not common here at all). They’d lick a literally turd if they saw someone sprinkle some unknown powder on it just for the chance of it making them high in any way, but they would fight to their death if anyone tried to vaccinate them specifically only with a covid vaccine.
