Fun fact: Mildly annoying fact: a surgery to remove a colon is called a colectomy. A surgery to remove part of a colon is called hemicolectomy. Come on!!! Semi- and hemi- are practically synonyms!
And I can’t quite remember or find right now what they call what remains, but I distinctly remember that it’s not called a semicolon. Medicine is so dull.
That is incorrect (to my understanding), it’s the combination of a comma and a period; it only resembles a colon in appearance.
Specifically, failed suicide attempts. It’s because a semicolon is used where a sentence could have ended, but keeps going.
Hypothetically, yes, very much. I feel like I’d fit in much better culturally somewhere like Finland, or generally the more peaceful European countries. But as soon as I even begin to think about actually doing it… No way in hell.
My family is here. All my friends are here. I’ve also got my mental health support system here and stuff like that, that would be incredibly hard to rebuild somewhere else.
There’s also the obvious language barrier, which I think for me personally would be insurmountable.
There’s a lot to dislike and hate about my home country of Israel. The weather is too hot and never changing in the summers. A large portion of the population is detestable in culture (and don’t even get me started on politics). Public transportation is a bad joke. But despite all that… It’s the best home I’ve got. Best thing to do is stay and try to make it better.
If everyone runs away whenever a place starts going to shit, it just goes to shit even faster. The non-shitty places will eventually run out.
Half of people wipe from the front while sitting. The other half stand up and wipe from behind. Most people in either group never find out that the other half exists.
I wanted to share a relevant QI clip for this (it was brought up by a guest, not the host) but couldn’t find it.
if there’s another potential misreading joke hidden in the title text, I can’t find it. ‘Remote sensing’ -> ‘remote detonation’ seems like a stretch. Maybe something with ‘measure the surface’? But then what would it be? Pleasure the surface?! I think not!
Basically I feel like this right now:
oooh I’ve never heard that, I like it
Well then, agree to disagree?
Right but I still don’t think it’d drive those specific companies out of business. They’re all damn good at profiting off of a worldwide catastrophe.
That’s the worst idea yet. As we’ve seen with covid, the streaming providers only get stronger under those circumstances.
It’s not as funny when they openly says that it’s an AI
Dang that’s pretty good
Never heard that word before. Wikipedia: “Mereology is the philosophical study of part-whole relationships.” Fascinating that there’s a name for that!
I considered it. Should I cross-post?
I do strongly think that “mildly interesting” is the most accurate category for this
Lol, it’s not that thick. The floor is not okay, but it’s been like that for years :P
Why does it make every drink taste like blood 🤔
Happy to be of service :D
Yes, I had to fight my own pedantry to post that phrasing! It’s one piece, but calling it two pieces connected by a handle is the only way I could think of to describe it and actually be understood. I challenge you to come up with a title for this which is both easy to understand and topologically accurate.
PSA: there is no official website for DroidDeck right now. There is a malicious website pretending to be that. Do not download anything from it!! Only download from the official GitHub releases.
The info on the fake website might be useful, but might be inaccurate or completely wrong, or even malicious. Take it with a bucketload of salt, or not at all.
There is a note near the top of the DroidDeck readme about this.
