Can’t help but feel like there’s something more to all these helicopter and commando raids that just recovering some remains. I’ve seen speculation that they’re planting some kind of chemical or even nuclear device to blame on Iran, dunno if that’s true but it definitely feels weird

Not entirely sure he’s speaking for the whole country here given that the Dubai airport seems to have been hit by another drone less than 30 minutes before he said this. Curious to see if this holds up over the next day or two.

In any case, most of the strikes have been coming from US planes and ships much further out than most of these gulf state bases, so continuing to bomb them at this point doesn’t directly stop attacks into Iran. If the ground invasion happens, that’s a much more important target for whatever munitions can’t reach Israel.

Should add that I’m still pretty skeptical that a US ground invasion is actually happening. Short of 9/11 2 tomorrow, there isn’t much popular support for it, there’s no good staging ground, no obvious goal to shoot for. Cuba, maybe, but Iran would be stupid even for this administration.

They do this very, very often. In fact, I’ve heard people claim you’re more likely to see combat in the national guard, as a lot of army people are stationed at various bases around the world and not getting shuffled to Kuwait whenever there’s a war on.

For reference, Lockheed made 620 Patriot missiles in 2025, presumably most/all of which were PAC-3s. They are desperately trying to pump that number up (current goal is 2000/year), but the big question mark is how many the US is sitting on right now.

They haven’t been, really. Just a lot of Chinese posters asking to donate in the comments of official Iranian social media posts. Also a lot of amateur OSINT people posting satellite photos of US military bases and saying “try bombing here next”

Chances just went up slightly that some insanely lucky/skilled Iranian pilot managed to slip in and bag three Americans. We’ll probably never be told if that’s the case though
