i have been observing voluntary dietary restrictions already and am seriously tempted to make the leap to vegetarian, because what i’m learning right now about avoiding certain foods is that it’s hard, it’s annoying, but it’s doable, and I am capable of cooking my own food to some robust degree. It’s time.

Vegan is another step beyond, i might get there someday, but i’m interested in moving that way. The inertia of a lifetime of eating meat, my relative lack of means, and the stress of life makes big changes difficult right now, but I accept the moral arguments, I want to get there.

using the new name is more respectful, helps you learn the name yourself, helps you associate that person with the new name, and using the deadname just means you’re more likely to use it in even less justifiable contexts.

Meta posting opens the door to shame and ridicule. I’ve already seen this happen by browsing the modlog a few times - it just got handled and i think that it’s absolutely good it was handled. i think there’s nothing to really say about MA that can’t be discussed as issues arise, privately. For better or worse, there are people who enjoy wrecking stuff like it. Issues with specific users can be handled by mods and admins - a lot of what can be said about it would be to curtail or limit the function of MA - the additional burden would be suppressive of use.

i dont know how this is a mystery. You have money, privilege, and delusion coming from a single sector of the empowered elite they exalt power and their own ideas of strength, they’re disgusted by what they perceive as weakness, and for a lot of power and control reasons they want womens rights rolled back, they want social life policed so strongly that it doesnt make sense to tolerate queer or any kind of deviant-from-norm lifestyles. They consider true knowlege and understanding to be a threat and an expression of power, and as such they want the average person to be significantly more ignorant. They want kids to work because if you can start young, you can raise a person to basically be their job - which under a fascist view can range from early exposure to corporate life for the privileged, to really fucked up shit like, in tandem with rolling womens rights back, the earlier you can condition them to their assigned role, the less likely they are to want to break out of it.

They want us more atomized and dumber, for the sake of control. They want the privileged to be highly specialized and locked in, too busy striving to survive to make trouble. They want a world where the weak die and the bonds that tie us together need not cross paths with anything like empathy or compassion
