Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.
Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.
Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

This hand-crafted, gold necklace with diamond, ruby sapphire, and emeralds adorning the intricately carved centerpiece?
5 gold pieces.
That moldy slice of bread you picked up accidentally from a barrel in the bottom of a 1500 year old shipwreck?
… I’ll give you 3 gold.

18·1 day agoBecause their only experience with anything involving trans people is in porn, and there is a huge amount of trans-fem content when compared to trans-masc.
So they literally don’t think about FtM trans people at all.
It’s also why many of them view trans people simply existing as inherently sexual.

Futurology@futurology.today•Chinese firm BYD says it will build 2,000 5-minute fast charger stations across Europe in 2026; at 1.5MW each, they will be 5 times more powerful than most existing chargers.English
2·2 days agoKnowing nothing about these specific setups, but knowing how charging lithium ion and LiFePO4 batteries work and my own experience with charging at different rates, yes.
It definitely reduces the battery life to jam that much current in and out of it, the higher rate you charge, the less accurately you’ll get to 100% charge, and you don’t want to overcharge or repeatedly undercharge it. This will more rapidly degrade the battery.
That said, with battery prices plummeting, and presumably only doing this when you absolutely NEED the charge ASAP, it might be worth it to have the ability to charge that fast.
Plus it would make for some sick EV racing, when you have set battery sizes and 10-30 second pit stops for more power being part of the race.

Television@piefed.social•‘Saturday Night Live’ Sets Jack Black as Next Host, With Jack White as Musical GuestEnglish
472·2 days agoThat was my breaking point.
I used to love jack black as a musician and an actor, he wasn’t the best ever at either but he was fun.
Then he started becoming more of a caricature of himself and it started getting annoying.
After his display of bending the knee, he can eat shit. He could easily have carried on as if he didnt care one way or another and nobody would have batted an eye, but he just had to panic and preemptively lick boot.

6·4 days agoI’ve been managing to drag some of them further left, I think, through conversation about things.
A few are 100% on board with a union as long as I keep calling it “collective bargaining” and don’t use the scary U word.
A few are on board with most social safety nets, especially when they find out Healthcare would cost less than it currently costs them in taxes alone, let alone not having to pay for insurance anymore, but the second you call it socialism or use any sort of word like “welfare” then they panic.
Individually I think I’m breaking some of them, but collectively they’re fucking idiots.

World News@lemmy.world•'Catastrophic,' Says UNICEF: 1,100+ Children Killed or Wounded in Mideast Since US-Israel Launched Iran WarEnglish
7·4 days agoThere’s a pretty simple test, IMO
Ask a person “is bombing a school filled with children okay as long as the end goal brings about the end of the world?”
If they answer “yes” then just immediately drop them into a meat grinder and use the remains for fertilizer.
Maybe it’s my cynical side, but I genuinely don’t think people like that can be fixed, so while it might be considered “cruel” it’s better to just put them out of everyone’s (including their own) misery, a “nuthouse” just gives them a place to congregate and keep trying to spread their hate.
