

Yeah, last I heard the number of Palestinians murdered since October 7th was 377k, which based on the pre-genocide population of 2.3 million (IIRC) would be closer to 16 or 17 percent of the population.
Edit: Actually, went to look this up and it seems that the 377000 statistic was based on a misinterpretation of a study, and doesn’t appear to be an accurate estimate. Will leave this up because it was widely circulated & others have probably made the same mistake.
As I understand it, the issue is that the original study was deducting the number of people in the three main population centers (as estimated by the IDF) from the pre-genocide population, and that number was meant to guess at the number of unaccounted for Palestinians who might have trouble reaching “”“”““aid centers””".
That said, it would not surprise me if the actual number of people murdered is close to 377,000 or even higher; but that specific number seems to be suspect.
