Not saying other antivirus software suites are not useful or much better, just only that defender is shit. People think it’s great, but it fails at basic scanning reliability & is reliant on Windows Update actually working ok too, which is a pretty shitty problem to have for security software. My expectation is that if I download malware the binary is not allowed to execute until scanning happened, Defender only sporadically fulfills this on real actively used computers with aging Windows installs.
