Breakfast Club is the classic example. Word emo chick was so hot and awesome and then just becomes… blah.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Frying pork chops? Taking a leak? It's a mystery. 🤔
13·5 days agoSir, this is a
Wendy’slemmyshitpost.
Thistle is in the right! Justice now!!
I’m just going to say it: NY style slice pizza is shit. And the thing is New Yorkers know it too. That’s why they fold the slices in half to eat it, they want it to be over as quickly as possible.
Oh shit, Busdriver! It’s been a minute, I got some relistening to do!
The Nobody Speak video is so good!
And while they’re not current, I recently discovered a late 90’s early-aughts rap group called The Coup that was basically writing the soundtrack for everything happening now (which just goes to show that these issues have been with is for a long time).
A few notable tracks that spring to mind:
- Kill My Landlord
- 5 million ways to kill a CEO
- and while the title doesn’t express it, the anti-billionaire track Pimps is as fucking hilarious as it is biting. These guys were clowning Trump back when he was just a simple civilian bigoted moron rapist.
Can’t believe I didn’t hear about this group back in the day, they’re one of my favorite discoveries in recent memory.
That… was quite the journey.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a TV series that you really, really liked and would enthusiastically recommend?
4·20 days agoThe showrunners had said from the very beginning they had the outline and knew how long it would go. (Also the end of this interview more recently.)
Producers don’t sign checks for shows that expensive without knowing what they’re signing up for.
I’d also say the regardless of debates on the quality (seems like audiences split pretty hard after S1), the general direction of the story was extremely clear and the entire inversion arc was almost complete. Anyway, regardless of if it were good or not, being robbed of a conclusion of any kind is infuriating.

6·21 days agoAnd the fact that HBO canceled it one measly season away from being about to finish the story. I’ll never pay a cent for HBO again.
I remember watching the movie and then immediately thinking, “Why the fuck did I just watch that? And why the fuck did anyone make it? This is not a story that needs to be given attention.”
I swear to fucking god, I must be the only person alive who’s never had any issues playing any game I wanted to on a Mac. You know there’s fucking ways to accomplish this shit right??

4·1 month agoWow I never knew about all the bts drama of this film! Also found this illuminating:
Frank Mancuso, Sr. – who had been intimately involved with Star Trek ever since Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan – , did not really want to end the Original Crew run on The Final Frontier low note, especially with the 25th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise coming up, and wanted one more film, but found himself seriously hampered by the strictest of budget limitation: under NOconceivable circumstance was a potential new film to exceed the budget of The Final Frontier, not even by one dollar.
That’s Doctor Evil to you.

8·1 month agoI hope the detached nacelles go the way of the S1 Discovery Klingons. They just look so goofy.
Yeah to say nothing about detached hulls! Like what’s with the Intrepid hulls also being detached and floaty? Seems like a system where you have to rely on transporters (I’m assuming?) to get between parts of the ship isn’t great fault tolerance in the event of something going wrong.
Detached shenanigans aside, I definitely didn’t mind how Athena ‘folded her wings’ after coming out of warp, that was badass!

I’ve been noticing a lot of X-Files posts lately, is there a revival or reboot going on or something?
