My folks will go to assisted living. That’s according to their wishes. They took care of their aging parents and they don’t want to take that same path themselves.
Part of it is yes, their kids ended up scattered around the world so there’s no way it wouldn’t end up being disproportionately on one to carry the burden. There’s also absolutely shit social services for caretakers in my country, almost as bad as for working mothers.
Sexual orientation is also a self-identity. I don’t think it’s necessary to specifically address to a child all the possible varieties. Just “respect people no matter what label they go by”.
Next, have fun learning that sexual behavior is different than sexual orientation, and sexual attraction is different than romantic attraction. Too many possible combinations and interpretations, just go with what people label themselves as.

Caveat: I got my last degree a couple of years before AI took off. I would consider any advice through whether the person offering has a lens of pre or post AI.
The advice I’m confident would apply to both is to take advantage of study resources. Meaning open office hours? Go to them. Professor’s aide is offering extra lecture sessions? Go to them. Dormmates forming a casual study group? Join. Discussion forces depth of thinking that passive consumption doesn’t.

Next few days off seems like a primo opportunity to break out of all sorts of routines and patterns. I would be looking to do something crazy new that requires a lot of active attention.
I do things that require my attention. Passive consumption of media like movies, books, music don’t cut it for me. I go biking or motorcycling where distraction would mean an accident. Or I hit up a sports competition, especially with teammates who I feel some obligation towards to help me stay invested. Whatever it is, I try to find ways to force my attention out of spiraling thoughts.

Oh, for sure it’s worse than sports fandom. I was trying to express more that they have a lot of energy they are directing towards religion that has commonalities with “my blue team good, your res team bad” mentality. Energy which might be less toxic if redirected away from religion to sports.

I’ve heard similar of Catholics, that some don’t consider them to be Christian. I believe along the line of whether faith alone or faith+works will save a person’s soul.
Maybe these people just need to get really into a sports team. It feels like that sometimes; clinging to some minute detail or charisma of a player or coach, and therefore my blue team is far superior to your navy blue team, and don’t even get me started on how terrible red team is.
Most I’ve come across have an exception for any layperson to do the baptism if the person’s life is in danger. E.g., come up to a car accident, person is near death, ask them if they accept Jesus (or not if they’re unconscious), baptize them, was the classic example I heard over and over. Now the Christian extremists in this article, I could see them saying “we’re in a holy war with these Muslims and their eternal lives are at risk, therefore their lay teachers can baptize”. Not that I expect them to put that much logic into it.
Check out Church of LDS Baptism of the Dead ritual. The person doesn’t even have to be alive or their body present to be baptized. And at least the mormons I grew up with, any “priest” or above could do a baptism, “priest” being any male church member in good standing, at least 15 or 16 years old.
