Makes sense. I can’t recall the last time I watched a late night show while it aired on TV. My youngest siblings (mid twenties to early thirties) have never even owned a TV. Any late night shows I would see are in clip form on YouTube or other internet platform. Short form, please, give me the good bits with ads I can block.

Absolutely the fuck not should we be “abolishing” any personal identity labels.
That doesn’t mean you can’t think some labels are excessive, even stupid. And it doesn’t mean you can’t tell a queer person to their face you won’t use their niche label. Just like they’re free to think of you as an asshole and even tell you to your face that they think you’re an asshole.

Or one could try to argue I violated rule 5 for “promoting an agenda” but since the Wikipedia article specifically mentions Trump as an example of the technique, I think any such argument would be a stretch. Again, up to how particular our mods are.

I’ve had more painful and seen more incompetence on the medical professionals’ side, but my methacholine challenge as part of asthma diagnosis always stands out for the blatant malpractice.
I was a kid, probably range of 9-12 years old. They exposed me to something that eventually triggers an asthma reaction in anyone, just a matter of how much it takes to be considered “asthmatic”. Then they left me in the room alone while the test ran. I posted about it once as a sanity check. It’s a legitimate test, from what I’ve been able to find, just not the part when they leave an underage patient unattended to deal with the inevitable asthma attack alone.
Take a modern first aid class. Some of the things taught in recent decades (mouth-to-mouth CPR, tourniquets, heimlich maneuver) are no longer advised for. And as certain tools became readily available for trending problems (NARCAN for opioid overdoses), new trainings are prioritized that someone going through first aid classes a decade-plus ago wouldn’t have learned about.
“Normal” first aid today will teach about scene assessment, AEDs, chest compressions only CPR, and NARCAN. A wilderness first aid class would teach things with the assumption trained medical help is not 30 min or less away (broader scope of scene assessment, tourniquets and splinting bones, hypothermia, animal bites, evacuation, +).
A high school classmate. We went to a Catholic high school. She came back years later, broke into the school over a weekend with a crew to film her debut porn shoot. The school tried to keep it quiet, but c’mon, I’m sure every student and half the alumni from previous 5 years knew about it before classes started the following Monday.
Actual human responses, including real apologies at times when someone takes a comment the wrong way and then admits they did so. Never in all my years on the other platform did I see that happen.

Is there some internet rule about declarations that include criticism of generations younger than the OP? I just imagine this is coming from someone standing in their front yard, shaking a fist at the kids zipping by on ebikes and mumbling about how OP wasn’t so lazy back in their day, having to provide full pedal power as Jesus and our great nation’s Founding Fathers intended.
I know plenty of folks in generations older than mine that can go thru life glassy-eyed at times. I also help with a scout troop where I cannot get those little shits to shut up with their “why, why, why?” I challenge that you are in a bias bubble. Or maybe you’re hangry and a nice slice of avocado toast would make you feel better?

Indian cooking techniques when it comes to spices, like tempering and blooming and dry roasting spices, map over to other cuisines. I got myself a little frying pan specifically for the task to reduce friction. I’ve also improved my spicing by learning when to add certain types of spices, e.g. ground spices not too early or they’ll get bitter.
I’m not a biologist nor chemist, but worked for a while as a manufacturing and design engineer making laboratory equipment they would use so feel like I have slightly above average exposure to labs. I also took at least three undergrad classes in which we used bunsen burners in our labs. I have never heard this decontamination theory before and it sounds like BS.
Are there any practicing chemists or biologists on here? This sounds like something that would have been removed from actual laboratory practices a century ago and someone just wrote this quirky story for clicks, downplaying how much the practice is already long gone.
Imo, you can just jump straight into this one. She wrote it several novels into the Hainish Cycle, but it is first chronologically within the story timeline.
Really, there’s not too much crossover between books. I haven’t read all of them, just picked them up as they sound interesting in no particular order and it’s been fine.
Infrastructure costs would be notable. Vending machines, ATMs, and other money-receiving machines are calibrated for current cotten/linen bills.
Impetus. Changing to polymer bills would take political will and we can’t manage anything productive atm.
Personally, I don’t want Trump to drive the change because he would end up putting himself on the bills, and other distasteful characters from history.
