I’m fading looking at my notes
So tired of never letting go
I’m living with an emptiness

  • I definitely like Port Island better than Inaba as a location, but I’m also just more of a city person anyway. In terms of story, I agree that it’s definitively better and the stakes are really felt as things go on. It’s pretty bleak when everyone around seems to have apathy syndrome and things are just generally falling apart in the end. I also like that the team isn’t immediately super close with each other. They all struggle with things that isolate them from each other, so it’s nice when they start to push past that. Persona 3 also has my favourite OST of all time

It’s not that I don’t like 4. I think they went for a completely different vibe and pretty much stuck the landing. Things are more wholesome, characters connect so much quicker, it all feels so much more slice of life - which is so not MegaTen lol. Anyway, there are times where I’m in the mood for that and it hits just right. I generally like the characters a lot and appreciate their friendship more than anything. I definitely don’t feel the same tension as the mystery goes on, which is unfortunate. That could have been balanced in a way that hit harder. I mean I figured there was no way they’d ever kill Nanako, but written differently I might not have been so sure. Anyway, I have nothing but love for both games and they rank high on my list (as do the other games in the series)

  • oh I feel like that very much depends on what type of game you’re looking for. SMT V is quite a leap in terms of the overworld itself, exploration, and refining the press turn system too. the original version of V is a bit loose on story, tho the re-release (V: Vengence) fixes that quite a bit. I think there’s more than enough story to justify playing through the original story fwiw and Da’at is a really cool world to explore. IV is much more the traditional MegaTen vibe in terms of overall gameplay and doesn’t benefit from the quality of life improvements that have been standardized over the last decade since it’s release. the story is very strong though and it’s a really great experience.

curious on how you were feeling about both games when you last played them?
