  • I live about an hour from the Russian border. I know people on the other side. I can read Russian well enough to follow their news since we’re probably fairly high up on the list of targets if this goes really wrong. Not that that would end well for Russia, but they’re not exactly behaving rationally atm.

I know what it really looks like inside Russia. Can you claim the same, or do you just like to spread misinformation?

  • It’s an enormous country with an abundance of natural resources. It was always going to take a fair amount of time before they got desperate. Now they are, and it’s not going well, hence the endless missile and drone barrage.

They lost their momentum on the ground a while back, and now they’re reduced to holding what they can and hope they can break the Ukrainian morale with civilian casualties. There’s nothing new there. They’re using the same tactics they used in Chechnya all over again. The only difference is the weaponry used.

  • Fair enough, but having kept an eye on what Thiel does (and says), I do find him to be a pretty problematic person in general for many reasons.

On the other hand, I agree with you about Kallas and specifically her views on Russia, etc. It is a pretty conservative country in many ways, so that part also makes sense.

Maybe it’s because of her role in the EU now, but I still can’t see a lot of overlap between her and many of the others on that list, Thiel notwithstanding. He’s just weird and not in a good way.

  • Might not be selfless as such, and I’m not in any position to speak for women in general, but when that biological drive kicks in, it can do so pretty damn hard.

That’s still satisfying your own need, but perhaps more subconsciously so than people having children without thought or care.

Me and my wife agreed on not having children when we were young, but we’ve never regretted the son we got after a pretty radical twist in our mid 20’s. I could go on, but it’s complicated.

In today’s world, if I were young again, I’d never even give it serious thought, though. Different times, although it doesn’t feel that long ago.

  • Your confusion probably stems from the fact that you don’t know the first thing about the topic being discussed. The salute itself is called the Sieg Heil. That he, in fact, didn’t pronounce the words while clearly wanting to (and arguably, should have) is just a little sideshow from what he quite clearly did, more than once, albeit badly.

Being a proper little nazi bitch isn’t easy, though, and he ain’t no aryan wonderman. I don’t know how well his father taught him the basics either, I just know he was a bigoted slavedriver. Maybe Musk got nervous. You don’t want Hitler’s ghost raving at you about proper salutes, do you? How’s yours for that matter? Are you ready to fire off a crisp one if needed?
