help-circle

  • Back in ye olden days people used to indeed just club each other to death with a long and heavy club.

Everyone in the countryside obviously carried a knife for practical purposes, though, and there were occasionally gangs of young punks who kept stabbing each other over petty feuds. This persisted up until perhaps the late 19th century and became more urban as time went on. They called themselves “Puukkojunkkarit,” which does more or less means “knife punk.”

Ironically, this has somewhat gone full circle with EDC’s. I carry one most of the time. Less stabbings, though, which is nice.

If you’re interested in more knowledge than I can impart:

  • That’s not completely true. I’ve had a fling with Vivaldi for a long time, but only for casual browsing on bookmarked sites I visit regularly (think forums, etc), but for anything serious, it’s obviously Firefox only.

I always liked Vivaldi a lot, but I guess it’s about breakup time. It’s a damn fucking shame.

You’d be hard pressed to find someone who thinks I’m not a “techy” person either, considering I’ve been building machines since the early pentium era.

For posterity, I can mention that Opera and then Vivaldi were the first two “not IE” browsers I ever switched to for myself. Got in some trouble as my parents thought that “I had deleted the Internet” (their exact words…).

    Those were the days, heh.

  • I agree completely. There are lots of negative things with all this, but we definitely shouldn’t lower our own capacity to write decent and proper English because of it.

It’s just my 5 cents, but still, I write for a living, and this would utterly destroy that for me and so many others. …and for what? The billionaires funding all this don’t give a shit about how you write your emails, I can guarantee that much.
