I can still have the idea of a thing or a place or a character and ‘know’ what it ‘should’ look like without being able to actually visualize it. That itself is a motivation to draw it or paint it or model and render it; once I’m done I finally can see what the thing I was thinking of would look like.

Surely it would be so much easier if I could just… daydream up the future finished piece, and hold it there in my mind as I copy everything I ‘see’ down onto the paper. That’s like an actual magical superpower for anyone who wants to make art, and it’s something almost everyone already has- and just takes for granted. All the practice and technique of getting the lines and colors down right to match your imagination is the easy part- because it’s possible to learn. And I did learn it, and it’s still hard to draw. Always takes lots of construction lines and scribbling and revising and iterating. But if I could visualize at all, that would make it so easy it would almost feel like cheating.

I already knew prompter bros sucked, but I think this just unlocked a new level of contempt. Sitting here with my empty white head-bubble-cloud but making do anyway, while guy #2 has a perfectly functional one that he’s not even using.

Evey time I can remember having to use that lever it was because of some fuck driving with their 1.21GW LED high-beams on right behind me, and therefore deserving a 🖕, which can conveniently also be used to toggle the mirror… Two birds with one stone. Either that’s not nearly as universal an experience as I’d hoped or all the Lemmy users who like to drive with their brights got triggered being called out- either way my post does not meet the high editorial standards of the showerthoughts community, so deleting it.

Potato salad is a legitimate foodstuff, however- in the United States it is unfortunately a gateway substance- leading to increasingly foamy forms of macaroni-celery salad, and ending ultimately in marshmallow grape walnut kool-hwip jello salad.

Also; the reason why it’s easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism is that ending the world actually is easier than ending capitalism.

Uploading “Where’s Waldo” images are probably a good waste of its time- images are costlier to analyze than text, it will go to great lengths to avoid saying “I don’t know,” and it’s going to have to recognize every person in the picture and rank by how Waldo-like they look to give you an answer.
