Shitty Movie Details@lemmy.world•All of these cancelled projects have one thing in common. I just can't put my finger on it.
2·18 hours agoFour of those you have a legit point to make. But I’m sorry, Secret Invasion was god-awful and I’m not down with them glazing over a domestic abuser just to complete a story arc.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Sam Altman matched with a man on Grindr, who posted the conversation. Open AI offered him money to take it down. He made a song instead.

6·1 day agoIt’s kind of interesting that we don’t frame that particular argument in this country.
I was actually referring to his campaign before he obtained the Infinity Stones to enact his “final solution”. He references it in Infinity war when talking to his “daughter” trying to make her see his way by telling her that her home planet had become a “paradise where no child goes hungry”.

14·2 days agoAnd as if that wasn’t an insult to the middle class, people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos can borrow against their stock holdings as if they were real assets, yet never be taxed on the value. But if you borrow against the value of your house, YOU get taxed on that value.
We as a species, at this very moment in time, have the physical and technological capability to feed every man woman and child on the planet, yet there’s somehow not enough food to feed all people and groceries are more expensive than they were 100 years ago. In terms of shear volume, you can stack all of humanity in one small corner of the grand canyon but “there’s not enough room for people to live in a home.” yet millions of houses and apartments stand empty as placeholders for equity and investment.
Scarcity is a choice, not a fact of existence. Stop buying the propaganda.

God’s actions in the bible make domestic abusers look like playground bullies.
It is widely understood that Thanos was insane. Resources aren’t naturally limited and his campaign of slaughtering half the populations of planets didn’t ensure plenty for the masses. What he accomplished was to teach otherwise isolated civilizations that unless they put aside their differences and worked together they were vulnerable to devastating attack.
The only scarcity there is or ever has been is artificially created by either ineptitude or purposeful in order to prop up the wealthy who are given ownership of land and resources.
If he truly wish for a prosperous universe he would have snapped those fingers and installed the knowledge to create a post scarcity society on every planet with intelligent life in all beings. Because with all things the answer is EDUCATION NOT DEATH.

23·2 days agoPrivate Equity 101, “buy” a business using borrowed money, put all the debt on the company you “bought”, slash costs, sell off assets, have the company declare bankruptcy and take all the debt with it, rince and repeat… Profit.

Enough Musk Spam@lemmy.world•Musk is upset poor people can buy food
2·2 days agoI don’t think that it’s going to matter if they do. The very fact that they are offering groceries at a lower price will put pressure on grocery businesses to shave their margins, which are already quite large due to “inflation”. (These places posted insane profits in the years since tte pandemic started, and even more after it was declared over).

I don’t think you understand what a narcissist is. And in the story, in literally every story about Supergirl, her family, her friends, everyone she ever knew, died horribly in front of her and she ends up surviving. There is such a thing as survivors guilt and it is pretty brutal.
But hey, feel free to be pissed that it isn’t a clone of the Superman movie but with a girl.
