  • A whole typical cigarette contains around 10-12mg of nicotine. The wiki says 30-60mg is potentially fatal to an adult, but that it could potentially take as much as 500mg. So for an adult, unlikely. For a child, I see mixed things saying 1 cigarette could be fatal. This says 1-13mg per kg for an infant. So maybe, depending on the size of the butt and the child?

  • So I just did a bit of research on it and according to Wikipedia and several journals it seems to be definitely possible for someone to die from nicotine poisoning. The wiki article cites two child deaths. I also found at least one article where nicotine poisoning was deemed the cause of death. Warning, it does contain shots of ther person’s dissected esophagus and their stomach contents. There’s a NLM journal article that pops up on a child committing suicide by nicotine ingestion, but the article was missing. So I can say it definitely has happened. I just couldnt find any readily available mortality studies showing how often it happens.

As for anecdotal evidence, I had a client with Pica, who would eat cigarette butts among other things and be vomiting all night.

  • And in case anyone wants a really vague recipe.

    • 10 lbs of potatoes
    • 1 lb bacon
    • 1 yellow onion, medium sized, diced
    • Chives
    • Parsley
    • Sugar
    • Apple cider vinegar
    • Mustard, I used stone ground
    • Black pepper
    • Salt

Slice and rinse the potatoes and boil for about 25mins until they’re fork tender.

I only had precooked bacon crumbles, so I rendered them down a little more along with some olive oil to use that to cook the onions. Bacon gets chopped and goes into a large bowl. Onions go into the bacon grease/oil mix along with maybe half a palmfull of chives and parsley, couple half teaspoons of black pepper, half a palmful to a full palm of sugar, a few shots of ACV, maybe a quarter to half cup, a good squirt of stone ground mustard, maybe half a teaspoon of salt. Cook the onions down til they’re browned. Drain and mix the potatoes with the bacon, then pour the onions in and mix it all together.

The asparagus is literally just cento balsamic glaze and some extra bacon crumbles. Chicken was nothing fancy either, adobo, a brown sugar bourbon spice mix, and some old bay baked 2 hours then topped with Aldi BBQ sauce. Too hot to grill so it went in the oven.

    My clients destroyed it though.

  • So I have to cook for my clients every day. Leftovers from most meals are kept in our staff fridge because the guys will absolutely gorge themselves on them if left alone.

Every fucking morning, our old nurse would come in and head straight for the fridge to make a plate of those leftovers. Never once brought in her own breakfast or lunch. If the behaviorist didn’t cook something for her for lunch when she was serving the guys, she’d go right back in the fridge.

Say there was enough for a whole other meal and we planned to use it again, put a big label like “FOR FRIDAY’S DINNER.” It didn’t matter… You’d go in and there’d be a huge chunk missing. One day, she actually ate a half of a half-serving tray worth of meat. I went in the next day and flipped. “Oh, I didn’t know it was for today.” “IT HAS A LABEL ON IT THAT SAYS IT’S FOR DINNER! I HAVE NOTHING TO GIVE THEM NOW! YOU ATE HALF THE MEAT MEANT FOR 8 PEOPLE!” “Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t know…”

It didn’t stop her, either… The worse part is that she was skinny as a twig.
