Where…where is the validation?

My father’s genealogy efforts have brought him into contact with more family, most of which he never would have found without. It has had no effect on his immediate family, and he is a great Dad. Maybe you just coincidentally know people who use it as a crutch to replace their broken family relationships.
Edit: Do I upvote this because I don’t agree with it?
You know MLK didn’t write that transcript, right?
Why are you getting sidetracked from a message of unity with somthing so trivial. It almost seems intentional, like you’d prefer whites and blacks be separate.
Marty Robbins reference out of nowhere!?
Upvote.

These people always seem to forget that the majority of economic growth- or the accelerated rate of growth at least- is only possible thanks to the achievements and suggestions of those “weird academics”.
But fuck those weird nerds, amirite?!
chulo_sinhatche@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Health officials push to get schoolchildren vaccinated as more U.S. parents opt out1·2 years agoI stand corrected! Just proves my point more though - even if a small population is at risk, we step in as a society decide that people should do/not do a certain thing that has the potential for harm.
chulo_sinhatche@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Health officials push to get schoolchildren vaccinated as more U.S. parents opt out183·2 years agoBut you don’t have a right for your child to endanger someone else’s child. Obviously there is a blurry line there e.g., if my kid has a PB&J he might endanger the welfare of a child with nut allergies. Are we going to ban nuts? Probably not, because not enough kids can get sick from them to warrant that kind of action.
Everyone’s kids can get measles. Or covid. Or polio. Or -insert preventable disease here-
Therefore everyone’s kids should get vaccinated. I get that our government does shady shit sometimes, but people without any scientific background take that and then believe that vaccines are some huge conspiracy.
It’s not.
Science proves they work and do not harm you belong a tiny margin of fringe cases where people have severe side effects (like less than 0.1% of ppl).

Also don’t know why I responded to a comment and not the original thread.

So it’s lame assist, not auto pilot. Which has been around for a while. Fucking Elon.

Your language in the comments are also very divisive for someone claiming to want to break idealogical lines. If people are disagreeing with you, that’s an opportunity to change minds. If everyone’s agreeing with you, you might just be in an echo chamber.

My body does has a natural immune system sweety, I don’t need to listen to scientists. No one even gets polio anymore, who needs vaccines?? I’ll just sawy limb off when I get gangreen from a broken limb. What’s that? The same science that protects me from.infection is the science that creates vaccines? Ruh-roh, raggy!
What I don’t understand is how removing the tax revenue generated by the urban areas was supposed to make things better for the rural areas? These proposals always felt like memes that somehow got shoved into state legislation.
