believe it or not, this actually takes carbon out of the atmosphere.
Capitalism when justifying not investing in infrastructure (platform screen doors).
I hate my job so I applied to a two places that looked interesting. I’m going into my 3rd round at one place next week and a first round at the other one. I’m not sure if either of these will end up sticking, but sure is a confidence booster batting 2/2 in my first time looking for 7 years. No matter what I’ll be leaving this place soon so that’s good.

So I haven’t read anything by Steve Yegge before, but looking into it now I see he’s the head of a company that sells tooling that leverages the very models/agents that he’s saying will turn the industry on its head. Not saying he’s wrong, just seems like everyone that says AI will do X is person who will profit very much if everyone believes that AI will do X.
I’d hold off on New Spring until you’re introduced to/know more about the two main characters (Siuan and Moraine). I think it’s meant to be a look back on the beginnings of known characters, not an introduction to them.
Jordan apparently recommends reading the books in published order (which would slot New Spring after book 10 of the main series, but I’d say anywhere after book 5 or 6 would be fine too.
Yeah not debating his creds or anything, but I am curious why he’s not on the boat when the last post about him was saying he was going to sail with Greta.
Canada, Australia and NZ don’t get a pass either.
without some form of axle controlling mechanism
You mean like putting all your bodyweight into torquing your axle bolts down right?
Good luck! You got this.
For me the physical discomfort only lasted a few days, from there it’s the forever slog of just not doing it. I read some BS dopamine hacking stuff about how this part of the addiction is just about your body’s expectation of a dopamine hit in response to any particular event you associated with nicotine (fight with your partner, a drink, work stuff, etc). Being conscious of this expectation helped me, and I’d find ways to give myself a little treat to satiate my monkey brain. No idea how grounded in real science this all is, but it kind of worked for me (over a year with just a couple slip ups after a few too many beers).
Yeah that’s a hell of a ratio lol
GW1 is online only, though the game works well as a solo experience. The minion master in that game is my fav by far.
It’s crazy how it just seeps in through friends, school etc. We’ve drawn a hard line at no paw patrol paraphernalia, which seems to have stopped its roots from really taking hold.
I’m trying to think of any possible advantage of this over just putting it on the back wheel and I can’t. It’s beautiful.
We followed pretty much the same things you’re doing, our first was eating solids at 6 months but our second didn’t really take to it until he was 8-9 months. I’d say don’t rush it, they’ll pick it up when they’re ready.
Was going to say Kwame Nkrumah as well. Pan-Africanism has such amazing potential and this guy is probably the most important figure in its history.
Yeah this quote is correct in it’s general intent, but gets some of the details wrong. Harry in the books is not super smart, he’s at best an average student.
If you’re going to big/medium-sized acts from musicians that have definitively “made it” then I think this makes sense. I’ve been to plenty of shows where an encore was neither expected nor desired, and others where an encore came at (what looked like) genuine surprise to the band.
So yeah, when you’re selling out all your shows and the last 10 all demanded an encore, then just start baking it into your set, but there has to be some marker of when you’ve reached this point.
I think the joke is that this is what a liberal would say, thinking that this is threatening. Their “non-moderate” position is like Jon Stewart or something.
