W for Mint!

is that dmesg output on your top, always visible? pretty cool tbh
i think programmer humor is supposed to be more specific than “any humor related to anything made by programmers”

Ooh, that’s neat. Reminds me of Khanacademy
what does this meem have to do with progammer humor, though?
I think they’re talking about taking down Flock cameras (spyware installed in public places by some for-profit corpo)

your claim was “that’s not a fuckin thing in the least”, so if they exist even in “weird places”, your claim was wrong.

i have definitely seen proton fanboys.

as a vegan, i generally view the things you say as much less bad than our current animal farming industry, and maybe some of them could be done ethically. but given my general experience with humans as a species, i just can’t trust any human organizations to run those things ethically, so it’s simpler and safer to avoid animal products entirely.

whoa, this is very similar to something i was teaching people recently! I tabled for an organization called Plant Based Treaty and we had some quizzes that passersby could answer to win snacks. one of them was what portion of our agricultural land is used for livestock, and the answer was uhh 76% or something, and the other question was what portion of our calories come from animal products and the answer was 18%.

that’s horrible, what the hell area do you live in?
you shouldn’t vibe code a solution, that would give more social and economic power to oligarchs.

i don’t think business hours and reviews are the main google maps has a monopoly. as someone who occasionally uses both google maps and openstreetmap, the main reason i use google maps is because it’s just more reliable - some points of interest aren’t on openstreetmap, and its search doesn’t work consistently. i rarely actually use google maps for business hours, and never reviews.

holy shit that’s bad.

this isn’t practical. we can disable some javascript but disabling it entirely would prevent us from using almost all websites, many of which we’re forced to by our employers, governments, etc

yeah… over 3 years, that’s over 100 photos per day… unbelievable…
The end of my usage was about one year ago. I’d tried several other clients in the years prior (Fractal, Nheko, Mirage, and some others I forgot the names of) but all of them had their own major issues, severe enough to eventually drive me back to Element
It’s certainly possible the ecosystem has matured somewhat since then, but I would be skeptical because I think the root of the problem was not that these projects were too young, but that the protocol was too complex for anyone to implement properly, much like the web

I’ve always found it bizarre how AI companies are like “our AI is gonna destroy the world, that’s why you should help us build it!”
I don’t know what recent events you mean, but in general I think such rules are overrated. Moderators can remove spam without an explicit rule against spam. Trying to list every possible behavior that a community would reject is never really feasible, we have to rely on human intuition anyway
