It’s on Etsy, $3.99, probably $5 shipping, I didn’t look, but that’s the way Etsy do these days.

21·18 days agoPublic servants shouldn’t have unions. We’re their employers. They should have anything better than we do. Same kinda benefits and pay. Congress, councilman, cops,…

Ebook Readers and Book Machines@lemmy.zip•The BOOX Picco could be the tiny e-reader of your dreamsEnglish
2·19 days agoWell, I just dug around the whole market for a small eink reader, and determined I want an x4 with usb-c and a warm front light.
I don’t need a touch screen or any other non-sense. Just a charging interface compatible with everything else, a decent screen, and the ability to read in the dark.
I have an old Boox Nova Pro, but it’s screen refresh went to pot with an OS update, and I kinda stopped using it.
I liked the idea of the Palma and have looked at other ~3inch devices over the years, but the Palma is too pricey and the rest have been about equal in price or junk.
Was tempted to jump on the Bigme bandwagon with one of the recent releases, but I really don’t need anything that fancy.
The x3-x4 price range is about perfect, but what’s the point of epaper with no light or USB-C in 2026?
Bah, what are these people doing?
Who wants to bet the Picco will tick all my boxes but the price will be like $160 USD.

2·19 days agoMaybe not here, but post the location to a group of antiflockers, suggest it’s pointing at a home and shouldn’t be, suggest maybe it should be removed.
You can stay pretty anonymous.
There are those of us who wouldn’t mind just quietly popping by a week later and taking care of that for ya.
If any are close by it certainly might get done.

51·19 days agoSeems most people vote their feels or their chosen clan… Whoever they think they get along better with socially.
It seems few people seriously assess a politicians job qualification or work hisrory.
Heck, my SO just lets me do the work, but I refused to just let them copy my vote. I write up paragraph summaries for each candidate then a blurb explaining my choice. They can disagree if they want, it’s okay. I don’t look to see how they vote, or ask, but they basically tell me they trust me and just wanna copy me.
It’s honestly pretty upsetting.
And I bet one partner in most relationships just does the same, or votes party line, or just generally doesn’t give a hoot but votes anyway.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Do any self hostable security cameras support a VPN to upload footage to another site?English
3·19 days agoAnything that is just local hardware can be saved or copied to an encrypted cloud drive of your choosing, via VPN if that’s what you want.
You don’t have to use a security cam system that hosts the cloud storage, or acts as a middle man between you and a live feed.
There are local systems that can host remote access portals too.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.ca•Could a human survive for a time grass-fed?
2·19 days agoIf you mean true grass, prolly not.
But there are typically handfulls of edible plants in any wild field and most yards.
So, pesticide poisoning aside, you could survive for some time eating greens and and roots scrounged from pretty much wherever.

Simplified, it reads like a very Rep platform.
If progressives don’t focus too much on the how, or their other social objective, they could def rake in some right leaning votes, no problem.

55·19 days agoI have no problem with being able to verbally ask a computer to do basic useful things, it’s a far more advanced PC-human inferface than the computer mouse…
But beyond that, meh. I get how it can be used by science to solve complex issues or analyze large datasets, and that’s cool, but I don’t need anything on my PC more calable than an aide that can set a timer for me, or thereabouts.
If it can’t already do something with way fewer errors than people, than it shouldn’t be doing that yet.
If it can, then we might as well put it to work.

News@lemmy.world•Man caught living for 8 years among half-ton of trash in national forest, feds say
5·2 months agoThe items listed weren’t necessarily waste, pans and tires and part bikes and barrels and recyclables he may have collected to turn in for coin… He may have cleaned up other areas in order to collect some of the stuff he had at his site, we don’t know.
The people who clear campsites just estimate weight of all they remove and label it all ‘trash that they cleared’… But it’s never is.
That’s like calling all the plants in my yard weeds, just cause you don’t like them.

News@lemmy.world•Man caught living for 8 years among half-ton of trash in national forest, feds say
1·2 months agoMy SO and I fill a 30L trash bag every two weeks, and our recycling is usually filled faster as there’s so much paper/cardboard packaging on everything, plus we favor food stuff sold in recycable containers.
Our recycling basically goes out every week, as the two bins are smaller than our trash can, but our trash can usually goes out less and with one or two bags in it… We’d wait, but it’s hot outside and we don’t want to leave it there boiling and rotting for weeks.

Turning? There was never enough fraud to justify any effort, less you consider gerrymandering and unfair polling practices, or other efforts to limit voting rights or fair outcomes.
