  • I was there longer term, but I did lots of day/weekend trips around the place. Being from WA, it’s a lot less travel to reach interesting/touristy places than I’m used to so that was great. Weather permitting, hiking the Tongariro crossing was my favourite short trip (it took us a couple of attempts as it was -10C at the red crater the first time we went so we just did the first part). That also gives you a LOTR experience (they filmed Mordor scenes there) while only paying for parking, and without falling into the tourist trap that is Hobbiton.

On my favourite trip, I chucked a mattress in the back of my car and my mountain bike on top of that and went on a solo camp/bike trip around the north island for a bit over a week. I did most of the Waikato river trails which were excellent. The trails near New Plymouth were another highlight.

It’s hard to go wrong really, did more touristy stuff in South island but I’m a sook with cold weather

  • Yeah, I start the shower hot then gradually increase the temp as I get used to it, and I’m usually in there until the hot water runs out. I’ve had housemates comment on how hot I have it based on the position I left the tap mixer. But it’s a critical part of my wake-up routine, the very first part of which is getting up to pee. So I rarely need to pee mid-shower. If I do, I just hop out and pee while dripping wet and hop back in.

Anyway, between that and my morning coffee I need to get up at least an hour before I leave for work. I’ll compromise with a takeaway coffee if I’m running late, but if I’m so behind that showering is gonna make me late, so be it.

It will likely be sent to the UK, but still handled in accordance with their Swiss privacy policy. The UK entity should be well versed in operating under GDPR and the Swiss entity would be liable under Swiss law in the event of any breach related to mishandling.

Afaik if there was a Swiss-originating alternative it would still operate under anti-money laundering legislation and as such your info would still be shared internationally in various circumstances determined by them. You would only be able to unilaterally revoke permission to use your data and therefore lose access to the service.

This is inherent to this kind of service, not any particular company.

  • You might be right, but basically everyone is expecting there to be significant features of MKW which are as yet unannounced but will be featured in the upcoming Nintendo direct which is focused on that game specifically.

There is certainly an argument to be made about DLC cost being included upfront (and Zelda was already $90 on Switch 1 including the DLC) to avoid splitting up the player base for a game with an online focus. That might not be what they’re doing, but my point is there are things they could do to justify the price increase for many players.

They also might just do nothing more than what’s already been announced, but I doubt it because why then would they do another reveal later?

  • Have a Kodi add-on setup integrated with trakt and custom widgets. So whenever I load up Kodi I get a feed of

    • New episodes for shows I already watch as soon as they air
    • New trending shows (in descending order of current viewers)
    • Newest shows on steeamers like Netflix, Amazon, Apple, BBC (which depend on the fine folk whom add them to trakt lists)
    • Recommended shows from trakt

And then a separate similar set of widgets for movies. I find the trakt recommendations include a lot of old movies too. So if I can’t find anything I want from the feeds of new stuff, I just pull up the trailer for one of the old movies I’m recommended and take a punt on it if I’m interested.

For YouTube I just use the recommendation algorithms (delivered via SmartTube)
