  • We have to tax the rich, even if we paid all the debt, we still have to tax the rich. This is required for justice, this is required for people to love their country, this is required to stop poverty, homelessness.

    Totally agree

When we have a just society people are going to help their country willingly

It surely helps when people feel proud of supporting their countries healthcare, pensions, education etc but i don’t think it will eliminate the narcisistic greed of the typical billionaire.

  • So, the govn can pay it right away.

No offense but i think you should learn a bit about more about economics, specifically about how currency works. Long story short, if a currency loses a lot of value in comparison to other currencies, the ‘local’ system collapses. So the very important task of a government (or its central bank really) is to keep it’s relative value high (not too high, but that’s a story for another day. The us gov (or the Federal Reserve in this case) would fail very very hard if they would decide to create 38 trillion usd. It is especially problematic considering the financial problems that it would cause are on top of all the other shit that’s going on.

  • They’re just following a simple set of rules for when you did something bad: reflect attention by creating an enemy that is smaller in size than the group who’s attention you’re deflecting. Since he isn’t important and doesn’t have the influence to pick a new enemy, poor guy has no choice to jump on a bandwagon. Current option in the us is “illegals” and “trans”. Yes his actions are deplorabele and need to be countered, but let’s not only pay attention to his deflection but also try and figure out why he feels the need to speak out against trans people. If he was just a biggot he could have kept his mouth shut too, if he was just kissing the butt of some trans-hater he would likely done so sooner. There could be another reason he is doing this now.

  • Personally i’d rather see certain mechanisms banned, rather then certain websites. Knives are imo a great example of how you can target a certain kind of use by making laws very specific: kitchen knives are totally legal to sell in the netherlands, but all self-respecting companies have policies not to sell to minors. If they’re in your kitchen you’re totally fine, if you bring them to a football match youre breaking a law (because of ‘intent of use’). Also, if you have a knife in your kitchen that isn’t meant for cutting food (e.g. a certain size, station, certain mechanisms) you’re breaking the law because those types of knives are always considered to be intended as a weapon. There are clear rules on when it is a useful tool and when it is a dangerous weapon. We can also make this for code.
