kaato@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Google Messages just flicked the switch on end-to-end encryption for all RCS and group chatsEnglish4·2 years agoI see your point. I like that the UI is quite simple, reminds me of the UI in iMessage. I was choosing between telegram and signal but mostly went with signal due to positive things I read online, in addition to being recommended on Privacytools.io which felt good.
kaato@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Google Messages just flicked the switch on end-to-end encryption for all RCS and group chatsEnglish2·2 years agoI have one friend who does not receive messages when he’s at his work Wi-Fi. My guess is that it’s some firewall protection or something.

kaato@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Google Messages just flicked the switch on end-to-end encryption for all RCS and group chatsEnglish6·2 years agoYeah, that’s entirely possible; I have some friends unwilling to convert (or that I haven’t bothered with). I do however note an increase in use in Sweden, so I’m still hopeful. Best converter would of course be major screw up from WhatsApp etc. which may or may not happen, but then I’ll be ready to bang the drums again :)

kaato@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Google Messages just flicked the switch on end-to-end encryption for all RCS and group chatsEnglish431·2 years agoUsing Signal since a few years. Don’t know anything about security but from a user perspective, I can highly recommend it. Takes some time converting your friends but after that it does its thing.

kaato@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What ebook reader to buy that works with selfhosted ebook library?English10·2 years agoAgree, I would also recommend Kobo. In addition, at my Kobo I can also borrow books directly from our public library for free in Sweden. Very convenient.
Such a great actor!

kaato@lemmy.worldto [Dormant] Electric Vehicles (Moved to [email protected])@lemmy.world•Why the all-electric Volvo EX30 is such a big deal | TechCrunch2·2 years agoI think it looks pretty neat and seem affordable. Would love one, but currently don’t really have enough use for a car motivating the cost of it. We try to use carpools instead which more expensive per km, but overall it’s likely cheaper given how rarely we use it.
kaato@lemmy.worldto Privacy@lemmy.ml•what are the best private email services that aren't invite only atm?4·2 years agoI use Proton as well. Very happy with it.
I would second Signal. In recent months I’ve seen it grow in popularity in Sweden.
Just finished ”Day of the Jackal” and started reading ”Born to run”.
