I stopped reading after they mentioned the battery performance was only measured on Windows. This is ridiculous to not measure it on Linux.

I am a software developer in Germany and have also been wondering where are the jobs for creating the Linux software to replace Windows software. So far I have seen hardly any.

I did similar, Xbox 360->PS4->Steam Deck
The main argument is due to copyright issues of LLM generated code. Github will happily remove repos which violated copyright laws or IP laws. It makes sense that Codeberg doesn’t want to host code which may be violating copyright law.

The American capitalist tech industry is already a dystopian hellscape 😂

This sadly aligns with my company. Remote workers remaining from before the forced return to office can’t get a promotion unless they move to a city with an official office. This is actually the stated company policy, not an unspoken policy.

None of that questions if we should be building AI in the first place.
Who stands to benefit when AI is developed and has massive consequences on society? I think it is mainly capitalists and global elite benefiting and society losing out.
Also no mention of the environmental destruction that is needed to build and run AI.

I’m skeptical when AI leaders and big tech are behind it. They want to be part of the discussion to make sure their AI business remains protected and becomes cemented as one of the few solutions allowed to operate.
At the moment Darling only supports running x86_64 macOS binaries.
There is on going work to make Darling run arm64 macOS binaries, but it hasn’t made much progress recently.
The architecture of your Linux machine needs to match the architecture of the macOS binary, which can support both x86_64 and arm64.

There is a research paper on this topic here: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11023-023-09644-y

A/B testing without consent is unethical. This doesn’t fly in any scientific fields, yet the technology industry doesn’t think twice about experimenting on users without consent.

I think it is mainly happening because companies don’t want to pay for user research/studies and would rather try and make assumptions about how their software is used based on aggregate data collection.

I use DuckDuckGo’s email hiding service. I have had sites reject signing up with a @duck.com email address. So services will definitely move to block Apple’s new subdomain only for aliased email addresses.

So far all the European digital sovereignty talk doesn’t mention mobile operating systems which are 100% controlled by the US. EU identity, banking, and even the new Wero payment app only works on iOS and Android.

As a programmer, jobs that say no Gen AI mean we value quality and people having real skills and learning instead of shipping low quality code to production as fast as possible to make the business metrics look good.

They did out feature Chrome by keeping Manifest V2 support.

AI is a monument to capitalist’s arrogance 🤣
I hope it gets some more attention. I joined in a Half Life Deatmatch session. Probably had been 20 years since last playing it.
You should try Gram instead. It is a Zed fork with all the AI and other anti-features removed.
