@Force_majeure123 @YarraByte I feel like I have noticed much less EOFY sales and offers than usual…
I like beets.

Allergic to Friendface. Hoping fellow allergy holders & #Twatters decamp here (I was here in 2018! see: @kudra 😅)
Let’s decouple our ideas of innate human value from jobs, mmk?
@Force_majeure123 @YarraByte I feel like I have noticed much less EOFY sales and offers than usual…
@imoldgreeeg hope you feel better soon!
I have something I haven’t been able to completely shake for a week and I can’t be bothered getting new RATs and wondering if I should even bother with old ones… doesn’t feel bad though and I’m a #novid but there’s always a first time.
@imoldgreeeg are they old RATs?
@imoldgreeeg @CEOofmyhouse56 I mostly watch from the sidelines but I am rather happy to learn of this origin story.
@Seagoon_ @just_kitten oh there are definitely cameras in the carriages.
@melbaboutown yeah when you realise “the cloud” is just other people’s computers and “free” SM & other lockin has always been designed from the outset to bait & switch and basically enslave you it makes you realise the real costs of not being free and open. I remember when I genuinely believed Google was a force for good.
@melbaboutown I am glad I don’t have to think about FB as have never given them my data. I need to anonymise on several services to at least try and thwart the AI feeding frenzy, though I’m rarely active anywhere except on Fedi these days. But I need to move Gmail as well. It’s more than many people are even equipped to try, sadly.
@melbaboutown @YarraByte in the process of DeGoogling and it’s similar. Though so far I’m only partway through Photos. It was always the intention to bait and switch and capture financially once the difficulty of leaving became extreme. I was always aware of Facebook which seemed blatant to me: Google and M$ actually more subtle.
@Grubbi @briongloid welcome! I am reading you from Mastodon, but I also have a Lemmy account, I just like to say hi from Mastodon occasionally to remind people it’s possible 😁
@deegeese @atomicpoet I answer threads on (one) Lemmy community regularly from my Mastodon account. It’s weird but it works and frankly, it’s cool!
@Steve @shnizmuffin I follow one Lemmy community through my Mastodon account because it is mainly a casual chatty daily thread group. It +is+ weird, and not ideal as it doesn’t show images for some reason, but I still kindof like that way of reading. I’ve got a separate Lemmy account for a bunch of Lemmy communities, and that works better generally. But I do like that they interoperate to some degree.
I also follow a bunch of hashtags and like them too. I find it all brilliant tbh, and love that it exists and isn’t controlled by fucking billionaires.
@PeelerSheila jeezus! That sounds horrifying.
Glad I generally use a pram if I go to woolies but this totally puts me off going there too.
@prettygorgeous I avoid Coles now because of these fucking things. I have yet to see a Woolies with one though?
Honestly, ALDI as much as possible, or farmers markets where they exist
@Nath @tombruzzo the owners of private childcare centres are making a killing. It’s criminal that the educators don’t get better pay. What they industry needs is some smart career educators who band together and start a chain of centres as cooperatives.
@just_kitten @Taleya the other thing that sucks about WGAC is the toilet paper is coming all the way from China. We DO NOT need to ship bum roll from effing China, it’s one of the least sensible things to buy from there, srsly.
@RustyRaven @Grackle who do they use to deliver? It would be good to have a backup if Yarn’n go down the gurgler.
@Taleya @briongloid had it with them about a year ago, just awful couriers, failed at least 3 delivery attempts in a row and I told them to go jump. Switched to Yarn’n, who so far haven’t fucked up once, but I’m kindof waiting for it to happen, it just seems almost inevitable.
@Salvo @Zagorath EV batteries so far are generally outlasting the expected/rated lifespans significantly. Yes, the range reduces and first gen EVs have more marked range reduction, but batteries can be replaced and the old battery repurposed as a stationary home battery or similar for a significant period before ultimately being recycled.
@Seagoon_ hmm good point!!
