I’ve seen this guy on my recommended page & always wondered if him & Brace ever crossed paths in Syria

Sometimes you hit paydirt reading deep into comment chains. Idk how I came across this on Lemmy but that OP definitely wasn’t talking UC Gundam lol

Another note is lactose is used since S. cerevisiae can’t metabolize it to alcohol.
I’d never wondered if actual dairy was ever added to give milk stout its name until you made me think of sour cream being directly squirted into sour ale wort.(I think the dairy’s lactobacillus would outcompete the sour’s yeast or secondary fermenting bacteria.)
A lazy web search’s headlines maybe says milk got mixed with (already fermented) porter as a ye olde laborers’ lunch booze to give the style its name, but seems like a true ‘milk stout’ has always been brewed with pure lactose isolate?

I worked very briefly with a medicinal chemist who had been part of the team working with the “contin” part at Purdue. I’d recently listened to the ‘OC 80’s’ episode of TrueAnon, wherein Brace mentions the common ways these slow release coatings were bypassed, so I was very eager to ask him about how known the abuse potential was by the actual scientists. He’d mentioned that you could dissolve these oligosaccharide slow release coatings with benzyl alcohol, but seemed completely oblivious to simply crushing the pill.
Also very funny to read a phresh PharmD talking about bluelight: https://www.pharmacytimes.com/view/abuse-deterrent-opioid-formulations-purpose-practicality-and-paradigms

I was looking for this to get mentioned as soon as I saw @Snort_Owl@hexbear.net mentioned Project Reality! Eve of Destruction was another great BF1942 mod that turned the game into a proto-Battlefield Vietnam (now I’m wondering if that mod team got brought on for the official game’s production it’s what came after 1942…)

Iran actually has 1 or 2 airbases “underground”: the hangars & taxiways are situated inside mountain tunnels leading directly to a runway. There’s cool footage of their F-4s parked in them & discussion of how basing Su-35s in a couple such centrally located mountain bases would go a long way towards denying hostile overflights.
Normal targeting of an airfield usually involves hitting aircraft parking spots & the intersections between taxiways & runways–the runway itself is very easy to repair, to such an extent that munitions specifically designed to attack airfields usually also scatter mines so the enemy can’t simply drive a bulldozer up to the pothole you created & just fill it back in.

No. I’d thought there were more instances of Israeli tourists intentionally starting wildfires beyond the recent thing of a military aged male burning a roll of toilet paper in Patagonia, but I can’t find more examples. I’d also heard of Israeli investors trying to purchase the burnt land but that seems to be a modern riff off of the Andinia Plan which I learned about when trying to find other examples.

Starting wildfires seems to be their MO these days

Alas, the finance bros need to get on the Jordan Peterson stack of benzos (or booze, or any other GABAergic drug?) for withdrawals to be life threatening. Heroin withdrawal just feels like dying but is medically safe to just go cold turkey

There’s also 3 crew in the lower deck that eject downwards…

It’s from a very early (<50?) episode; think Brace said that Hamilton thought it wouldn’t do anything & nothing more came of it

truly a .gif from beyond the time
rülpsen dein Haus!

Brb gonna bounce on my boy’s dick in celebration of this news!

Also Hamilton’s friends with Brace, even so far as consulting Brace on consuming adrenochrome
He also spent 15 years working as a missile flight test engineer at Redstone Arsenal
