  • when writing somewhat low-level code, you always make assumptions about things. in this case, they chose to manage 256 entries in some array; the bound used to be lower.

but implicitly there’s a tradeoff, probably memory / CPU utilisation in the server.

it’s always about the tradeoff between what the users want, what is easier for you to maintain, what your infrastructure can provide, etc.

  • jokes aside, never give in to this logical fallacy :

saying “IF you don’t want me to do something in the present/future THEN you should have made a different choice in the past” is stupid and logically inconsistent; causation does not flow backwards

It would make sense to say “I am doing this to you BECAUSE it’s your fault”, which is logically valid but simply false in this case (could be true in other cases, think of self-defense)

this exact rhetoric is used by rapists and bullies etc. to blame you for something they chose to do

“fractal” just means “broken-looking” (as in “fracture”). see Benoît Mandelbrot’s original book on this

I assume you mean “nice looking self-replicating pattern”, which you can easily obtain by replacing each square by the whole picture over and over again
