I do want to try it now. Sliced thin would probably be quite good. But lettuce will still be better, I prefer arugula for the flavor.

News@lemmy.world•Nasa announces Artemis III mission no longer aims to send humans to moon
41·25 days agoSpaceX is going through the same problem tesla currently has. All the talent that created its good products is either burnt out or already left the company. Their outputs will continue to decline while being in stark contrast to their promises imo.
Their hiring process is also atrocious and scares off any good engineers, and with Elon’s cocksucking arch, those disillusioned enough to tough out working there are very few these days.

9·2 months agoWe canceled prime. If we really need something from Amazon it’s $35 for free shipping anyways. We partially canceled because it’s all no name cheap garbage. At least some other retailers vet and back their products.

6·2 months agoNow that I’ve seen the type of people that seek political positions over a few decades, I would push Alec to run for some sort of local office. He’s the exact opposite of the majority of assholes who enter politics.
I think there is also a cooking skills gap no one acknowledges. For example tofu is way different than chicken/beef/pork. Scares a lot of people away because poorly cooked tofu is 100x worse than poorly cooked meat.
Our family eats about half vegetarian because the cost difference is still minimal and variety is fun. Animals are also way more evil than most people realize. Cows are basically the only one that won’t eat it’s friend when they are bored. Not saying it justifies earing them, but I’ve never understood why vegans put animals on a pedestal.

THE POLICE PROBLEM@lemmy.world•[GRAPHIC] New and one of the clearest angles of the murder of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis todayEnglish
9·2 months agoPretti never gave any indication he intended to shoot back. He was complying when they disarmed and executed him.
No need to alter reality.
I have limited exposure to ML for maintenance modeling in manufacturing. LLMs are sort like a parrot with improved guessing abilities and an insane amount of guessing power. It will never move beyond being a parrot, because that’s what it is.
This is more “he agrees with the last person he talked to” thing he always does. Peter Theil still wants his shithole utopia on Greenland, so he will likely flip back when he talks with him again.
So stupid all of this.

3·2 months agoIt’s unclear if they might. I personally have no idea.
I have heard from some people at oregon protests that our police are tired of ICE. Doesn’t mean all of them, but this legal backstop we have sort of annoys them enough to hate ICE.

politics @lemmy.world•White House to end funding to sanctuary cities and states on Feb. 1
331·2 months agoSince we are losing funding over it, we may as well actually use our sanctuary status.
In Oregon, no state law enforcement can help with immigration enforcement in any way. On or off duty. Document it and call 1-844-924-STAY.
There are also laws protecting people from any arrest while at a court hearing, such as citizenship things, but we’ll see if those hold up.

World News@lemmy.world•Europe should prepare for Greenland’s annexation and end of NATO: ExpertsEnglish
31·2 months agoThere isn’t enough support for revolution despite what many people here believe.
Internal violence is always used by fascists to consolidate power. So people who aren’t stupid don’t use it. Shooting an ICE agent would be used to expand their protection for example.
There isn’t more ‘somethings’ to do. Voting and protesting is all we really have.
The problem is a large portion of this country is actually supportive of what’s happening. People who are mad are a minority.

710·2 months agoYou would do the same if you were a US citizen. Talking tough from a distance is just as pathetic as our inaction and general inability to magically fix our country. Waiting for elections and not escalating beyond peaceful protests is all we can do without handing them the propaganda they need. Peaceful includes open carrying like the black panthers.
If someone were to actually assassinate the orange one, you guys are way more fucked. The retribution campaign would go way beyond Greenland even if it makes no sense.
Yep, there are small furniture manufacturers all over the place where I live. We bought our couch from one of them. $5k for a couch smaller than a sectional from costco. But it’s repairable has a long warranty and is much more durable and comfortable.
We also have a fine wood furniture place that does solid wood stuff. $10k for a bedroom set. I’ll stick with ikea until the kids move out.
I had a bad case of Strep throat last year and numbers I saw on the thermometer should’ve killed me. I kept passing out and choking down Tylenol trying to get my fever under control. I was hallucinating so I couldn’t understand how much danger I was in. Besides how awful my throat felt and the fever, I never felt scared of dying.
I lost my vision on the way to the ER after suffering all night. Still took 3 hours in the waiting room because the nurse didn’t believe me. Told me I had “man flu”.

From $3.50/gallon to $5.99/gallon on the west coast in the US. We absolutely are feeling the effects of these stupid actions.
$100 for a tank is relatively normal though. Our tow vehicle has a 36 gallon tank so even $3/gallon gets expensive.
