I’ll add to this a bit. I know so many people who want to buy a fixer upper to save money. We went that route, and while my mortgage is sort of low, the repair costs are insane. I did all the work myself, and we spent over $100k in 5 years. Houses are expensive to own if you care about them.

Yep I’ve got it all. I wouldn’t even be considering doing it if I wasnt already very handy and comfortable in most of the PPE. Chaps will be new, but the discomfort is worth the safety.

I don’t mean strictly professional honesty, but my experiences leak into how I view something like this. The biggest liar I know is still in jail for raping children, so I have a skewed view of honesty.

My industry and group are weird when it comes to credentials. We don’t have a strict, you need this degree situation.

I value honesty more than most people I’m realizing. If a hire is open about their credentials I would not care.

I’ve witnessed what happens when people are ok with liars. It’s gross, and no one should normalize it.

Honesty is my problem with it. If they were open about it I wouldn’t care. But if they hid it and were hired because of the degree I’d fire them almost regardless of their work.

It’s something I value because dishonest people are usually quite horrible in my life experience.

On one hand, degrees are somewhat good for education in lots of industries.

On the other hand, I would fire someone instantly if they had cheated their degree like this.

Degrees are also very expensive.

Buy a stud finder. Slide it back and forth a lot. Mark the edges multiple times until it’s pretty clearly a multiple of 1.5 inches.

Non supporting walls will only have 1.5 inches or sometimes 3 inches of stud to mount to.

Supporting walls will have a lot more. Solid wood above the window, jack studs, and king studs. It varied depending on load requirements, but it’s usually several studs solid around supporting wall openings.

This change is a perfect example of engineering research. Artemis I was within the expected boundaries of the heat shield material. It performed worse than expected, so they adjusted its heat exposure rate based on the actual outcome. The guy in the article seems to not understand that this is a huge part of actual engineering.

They sped up the re-entry to increase heat transfer rate to reduce off gassing issues. This is a great example of why engineering sometimes doesn’t release a full description of issues, because dumb people don’t understand why a decision is made.

Wrong. No oxygen is left so it can’t burn. It exits the exhaust as unburnt fuel exactly as you stated in your original comment.

Extra fuel in a diesel cycle is used as coolant just like in any of the gas cycles. Gas is see through when it vaporizes, diesel isn’t. A turboed gas engine rolls coal too but it only smells bad if it lacks emissions systems.

I hate rolling coal but running rich is used to protect an engine under high power output conditions. Mostly in forced induction setups. Extra fuel lowers cylinder and exhaust temperatures because it vaporizes without combusting, pulling heat out of the air fuel mixture during the compression stroke. Leaning out too much is death to an engine.

From $3.50/gallon to $5.99/gallon on the west coast in the US. We absolutely are feeling the effects of these stupid actions.

$100 for a tank is relatively normal though. Our tow vehicle has a 36 gallon tank so even $3/gallon gets expensive.

I do want to try it now. Sliced thin would probably be quite good. But lettuce will still be better, I prefer arugula for the flavor.
