  • It’s less customisable but your 10yr old cousin and 78yr old grandmother find it easy to use. It’s a silent switch. Turn it to silent and your phone cannot make a sound without an interaction by you. Very simple and easy to understand. If you want more granular control of this in iOS you’ll have to use a combination of Focus modes and Shortcuts. Personally I think of be pretty easy for Apple to retain the simplistic silent mode AND add setting level granular control too.

  • There’s definitely an argument that having both world be ideal but Apple being Apple that would push the pricing higher. Personally I enjoy FaceID. Touch ID is convenient in bed when reaching over to look at something on phone on bedside table without having to properly pick it up as with Face ID you need to be looking straight(ish) at the screen and have attention. Also I’m using my Quest 3 with pass through and can use phone well like that but obvs FaceID won’t work so I’m back to code entry there.

  • Ha. Exactly this. I have my case for situational use. If I’m out for a day where I know I’ll be using my phone a lot for taking pics etc I’ll whack on my Mous case. If it’s a regular day at work no case. At home no case UNLESS one of my c̶l̶u̶m̶s̶y̶ f̶u̶c̶k̶w̶i̶t̶ k̶i̶d̶s̶ darlings wants to play a game.

  • I got my parents iPhones, my in laws have Android. My parents get on fine with their phones. Every single time I’m at my in laws I’m not spending time with anyone, I’m tech support for their phones because they’ve messed something up or something isn’t working right. My work phone is Android so I know my way round and don’t have issues on it. I think the added layer of complexity / potential complexity with more permission requests, customisation possibility, storage options (they have mid devices with SD storage in addition to internal which is the cause of many problems for them).
