I enjoyed it quite a bit. At nearly 3hrs runtime, I went in thinking “as long as I don’t hit a point where I’m wondering how much time is left, I’ll be satisfied with this movie.” I was pretty gripped the entire time. Never once felt like it was dragging.

Wherever this thing ends up, it will be begging for the most obvious bit of vandalism ever. One little hole turns it from a “touching tribute” into a real-life kirkpost.

The A.V. Club used to do a series where bands would come on and choose from a list of songs to cover. As the season goes on, the list shrinks and the covers get more exotic. You can search “av undercover” on YouTube to watch through the back catalog of old seasons for some pretty great covers. I don’t think they do it anymore, but it ran for several years.

My Autodesk login is attached to my old student email, which I guess finally got deleted by my old college. I was incredibly grateful that I had a PC that was still actively logged into Fusion 360 when I learned this. I was able to preserve and export all the 3D design and modeling work I’ve done over the last 8 years before I get locked out of that login for good. I don’t use 3D modeling every day, so it was very lucky that I realized my login was now sitting in limbo while I still temporarily had access to everything.
Very grateful for that. There’s hundreds of hours worth of work there.

too stupid to realize the money was coming from Russia
and/or too greedy to care. To any reputable independent media outlet, it may raise an eyebrow if some unknown funding source reached out and said “we’ll give you $10 million to basically keep doing exactly what you’re already doing. Ukraine bad, Russia good, etc. etc.” but for Tim he obviously didn’t give a shit when the check cleared. Pathetic that his exact brand is “you can’t trust any other media source but me! They’re all bought and paid for!”
Timbah.On.Toast is an excellent YouTube channel that has some very thorough breakdowns of some prominent grifters. Dave Rubin, James O’Keefe, Russell Brand, and a multi-part series on Tim Pool which starts right here: https://youtu.be/TRfbczIaR7E
Highly recommended if you’re into that sort of thing.
This isn’t exactly the same thing, but Matthew Fox played a paratrooper with no lines in World War Z. This was after Lost, so he wasn’t an unknown by any stretch. He originally had a bigger part, but they changed the entire 3rd act in reshoots and his role was reduced to basically nothing.

Funny enough, this is the exact reaction of the person from the poop knife story.

I used to use sync, but it’s been abandoned and I heard from other former sync users that summit had a comparable feature set, so I switched to that. Summit shows profile pics next to each user.

Nice profile pic. I’ve been wanting to find a maker/tinkerer community on lemmy but I haven’t come across one yet. Am I just not looking hard enough? I love seeing and discussing people’s DIY electronics / 3D printed projects.

Kinda sounds like the imperialism has turned inward now. We should have a term for that…

Haha, it’s why I added the “we’re white” detail near the beginning. I knew that the waitress confirming 3 separate times would probably sound weird to anyone who’s not white.
I imagine that, at least for Americans, the reason spice is such a macho thing is because our food isn’t very spicy, so it’s more of a novelty for “sometimes” meals instead of just a standard part of our cooking. Our palettes aren’t used to it, and Americans especially will compete over anything. I definitely don’t want to compete with anyone when it comes to spice because I still want to enjoy my food. My ideal spice level is for the dish to be just a bit of a struggle at the end. If I shed a few tears with the last few bites, that was the right amount of spice for me.
As for the poop memes, depending on the meal, my b-hole can detect spice just as accurately as my mouth, and that is… not fun. If your digestive system doesn’t work that way then I envy you. One sufficiently traumatic “ring of fire” experience is enough to get some people to decide that spicy food is not for them. Personally, I’ll risk it if the food is amazing. That’s a problem for future me.

All the “best” conservative arguments are just repurposed left-wing arguments that someone ran ctrl+f and replaced each identifying term with it’s counterpart.
The infuriating part is that the reason it works is because left-wing arguments are fundamentally structured better and are more compelling. At some point in the past, a lefty made that argument to the right-winger and they could feel that they were losing the argument, so they quietly adopted the aesthetic of the same argument and later deployed it like they came up with it themselves.
It’s why every right-wing argument has to construct a fiction where their enemy already holds all the power and has been in control for decades. Everyone can intuitively feel that they’re being scammed by an unfair system that’s rigged for the benefit of the wealthy. All right-wingers have to do is convince people that the structure of society can’t be blamed on the people with the power to shape it. They just need people to blame someone they’ve already been convinced to hate. Immigrants, minorities, queers, and anyone else who would tell them who their actual enemies are.

I always liked the wii version because it didn’t have such aggressive “balancing” and you could win by half the racetrack or more if you played well and didn’t get blue shelled. I don’t know if the newer ones are like that, but it was a welcome change at the time in my opinion.

One time I was eating at an Indian restaurant that had a 5-star heat scale, and then “Indian hot” which was just another level beyond the scale. I ordered 3 star heat and my buddy ordered “Indian hot.” The waitress confirmed 3 times that was what he wanted (we’re white).
I was impressed that my friend was managing his meal pretty well so I asked if I could try it to compare. It wasn’t any hotter than mine. I’m sure the chef took one look at him and was like “I’m not remaking this dish when that white boy can’t eat what he ordered.” Not like my friend would’ve been a dick about it or demanded another dish, but yeah I doubt he could’ve handled the heat level he asked for. In the end, the food was great and my buddy didn’t feel cheated and didn’t destroy his guts.

Total net worth. No hidden assets or secret bank accounts. Every last cent that a person is worth. Also, it gets brighter/more noticeable whenever you’re advocating for something that increases your net worth.
I feel like this would be the only way to get a lot of people to connect the dots.

I read this with the cadence of the “Curved. Swords.” dialog from a Skyrim guard.

In a weird way, I kind of appreciate things like this. I was at least a little bit interested in checking this game out at some point. Not for $60, but maybe once it came down into the sub $20 range.
With this, any interest I had is instantly gone. I get to keep my money and I no longer feel any desire to play this game. Thanks, Ubisoft!
I have always believed that video was the “shot across the bow” to get Crowder to shut the fuck up and let the divorce proceed. His wife wanted the divorce to move quickly and quietly, outside the public eye. Then Crowder got loud about it, announced it was happening on his podcast and basically said that he wasn’t going to agree to terminate the marriage.
Next thing that happened was that video getting released. One video, one argument, verbal only, but it still clearly painted him as a piece of shit. In my mind, that video was the wife’s lawyers telling Crowder’s lawyers “We have all of the home security footage. Do you really want to battle this out in public?”
Does anyone really believe that argument was the worst thing they could have released? Listen to how that man spoke to his pregnant wife and tell me you don’t think he ever got physical with her. They only ever released that one video. Crowder shut up about the divorce and that was the last of it.
