11·4 days agoI don’t mind prioritizing the guest over the host. So, that is how I operate in my home and no one is being rude. Not that either approach is wrong. But, given the rudeness I’ve encountered here it dosen’t feel like avoiding rudeness is the driving factor.

11·5 days agoGuests take precedence. That’s my cultural position. Otherwise, I do whatever I want in my home and clean up after as habit, regardless. Sometimes I wear shoes.

31·5 days agoI take in guests as they are and don’t demand anything more of them than what would deny them as guests to begin with.

5·5 days agoAgreed. I just think the guest takes precedence. It is a privilege to have them, and not taking off shoes isn’t really a big deal to us.

63·5 days agoI would never make such a demand of a guest in my home. They are my guest and I will feed them and clean up after.

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•Anyone learning other languages?English
2·9 days agoIt was the first language I studied early on in school. But I visited cern a few times for work and really struggled to speak even though I tried to keep up with it, along with Spanish and German. That’s when I decided to commit to just French, for now.
Je ne parle pas très bien français, mais j’essaie!
Broken people breaking societies
Respectfully disagree. Adding layers is limiting and my wrists are still cold.

Willful ignorance is certainly a take.
