I think we’ll get back there eventually, if we don’t murder ourselves in the process. This time though we’ll have chilled beer picking sessions and no large animal is going to crack our skull open when we try to cook supper.

6·5 hours agoOh yeah, I definitely have emergency water rations and I did think of using them but they’re all sealed tight as I put just boiled water into glass jars and juice bottles with those metal pop-up caps (jam jars and organic juice). I have three large plastic bottles I was neglecting to fill up which today I regretted because it wasn’t such dire straits that I wanted to pop open one of the jars/bottles but it would’ve been nice. Oh well, got more exercise in.
On the topic of emergency water rations; I also keep a container of cat litter with me so if the water system is down for longer I can still use the toilet but with a garbage bag full of cat litter where the water would’ve been.

3·10 hours agoHaha because the common trope of freak gasoline fight accidents isn’t true, where-as using any source of electric device that could produce sparks is much more likely to cause ignition. Haha

I wish I had one of those, but currently I have only a clothes drying rack that is essentially a clothes storage rack.

Canada@lemmy.ca•[A Canadian company] may soon bypass UN rules and mine the deep seaEnglish
13·1 day agoThe Metals Company is pursuing the U.S. regulatory pathway through their U.S.-based subsidiary company. However, TMC U.S. has only existed by that name since January 2025, meaning that critical data, funds and proprietary designs used for mining are likely carried over from the Canadian parent company TMC, or other TMC subsidiaries.
If an American subsidiary has arguably no functional independence from their Canadian parent company, Canada could have an obligation and responsibility under UNCLOS to ensure the company is not participating in mining activities that potentially violate UN regulations.

I remember walking around the city finding all the spots that were hidden away and offered a semblance of privacy from the police.
