  • Ocean currents in this region are moving 2 knots south southwest. Floating to Fiji holding onto a tree branch should take about two weeks unless the south equatorial current takes me toward New Caledonia again. Either one is okay with me. I stopped caring hundreds of years ago. I can tell my general location by the feel of the water. Shark attacks are a mild inconvenience and there are some islands I try to avoid because things went south with the people there. In some places they know I’m not like them. The people on Fatu Hiva are beautiful and kind but after they watched me fall 100 meters and get up they are scared to death of me. I’ve been speared and shot but I’ve also been cared for and loved. I don’t really belong anywhere. I don’t need anything. Now I just close my eyes and go where the ocean takes me.

In the picture America looks pretty awesome but the place they are visiting “you” looks pretty bad in comparison.

Seems like the theme is that America is pretty great and other places are not. Maybe it’s because America keeps destroying these places? Not sure

  • "Key points of the plan include a demand to resolve all issues and end the war within 30 days, instead of observing a two-month ceasefire as the U.S. had proposed. Other demands listed by the Iranian outlets include guarantees against future military aggression, the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iran’s periphery, an end to the naval blockade, the release of frozen Iranian assets, payment of reparations, the lifting of sanctions, an end to fighting in Lebanon, and a new mechanism governing the Strait of Hormuz. "

  • Having a conversation is a two way affair and if you are involved in the conversation you can choose to try to steer the conversation. However I think you may have a compulsory need to talk, driven by your thought process.

Maybe try to keep in mind what you want from the conversation. Is it an opportunity to bond and share thoughts with the other person, or are the topics discussed the most important thing and the relationship secondary and worth sacrificing?

  • And you’re inventing a version of events where a whole community was displaced in happiness.

I never tried to make it seem like the relocation was some terrible thing or to demonize government for it. I just wanted to point out that it happened and that people probably had no choice. Why can’t the be a discussion about it? Why is your only point that either it didn’t happen or they nobody was upset about it?

You didn’t bother to have an actual discussion, about whether the developments in and around the photo benefit everyone. Maybe some people had to move from their homes and sacrifice to let it happen.
