The high ground was just a ruse. Obi Wan has the advantage on the low ground. Vs Maul and Grievous, he attacked from below. Taunting Anakin about the high ground was just to make Anakin try to get the high ground so Obi Wan could attack from below. Which he did.

Attacking from the low ground in melee combat is advantageous as you can just go for the ankles, as my niece figured out very early on when we used to play lightsaber battles. She’d insist I stand on the bed, and she’d slice off my ankles, it’s over, Auntikin, I have the lot ground, haha.

They actually show that in the movie during their duel on Mustafar.

When they’re in the control room they both do a force push on each other but they cancel each other out for a moment then they both get sent flying backwards.

I’m about ligjtsaber fights obviously but in swordfighting Id say that having the high ground gives easy access to your opponents head, ontop of that you bring more weight into some of the hits making it harder to block. Source: my family all do reenactments including swordfighting so ive learnt a little bit too.

just be like an anime character who endures the hits from above by standing straight and tall and crushing the ground and sinking into it
