I feel like if we had any other person in the presidency the Artemis II would be a way bigger story. I didn’t even know about it till it launched. Instead we got WW3 with Venezuela, Iran, and Cuba being targeted.

We could be talking about how sharp moon dust is and that they plan on melting it with lasers in order to build structures on the moon, but no…

This mission is underwhelming. Outdated technology kept in place for political reasons (i.e., Congress demanding jobs for their constituents during the Obama presidency), while better programs are being cancelled. And the astronauts are just going around the moon.

While we spend a fraction of a percent on NASA, perpetually “10 years away” from a Mars mission, the PRC just finished the Tiangong space station. The Chinese are building infrastructure for the long-term while the US refuses to adequately fund space exploration. Americans should actually be embarrassed by how far we’re falling behind.

Same, I’m really bummed that I didn’t watch it live. I only heard about it the next day after it trended on Mastodon :(

I hope I remember to watch re-entry live anyway.
