Tip your servers and bartenders or go to McDonald’s. Don’t be rude while you’re a guest.

Look, I see the sentiment and I get it, but putting up with the absolute bullshit that is the US tip system is horrendous.

I’m not surprised many europeans aren’t doing it, it’s stupid and they are probably confused why they are being asked to tip like 20%

That whole tipping culture needs to go. It’s infecting parts of Europe as well. It’s a disease.

Just yesterday on Tagesschau: about half of customers consider not giving a tip rude. But a tip is for excellent service or convenience (rounding) here. It’s not normal and especially not required or expected.

Found the server. Restaurants shouldn’t rely on the goodwill of others and they should charge what they have to to pay their employees. If you think that is a high bar, you are part of the problem.

If you think not tipping your server will fix the problem, you’re letting a wage-slave suffer and enjoying a discount on your meal.

A discount. See howndillusional people are. Put it in the price. It isn’t a discount if it isn’t what you are charging and it is on a sliding scale based on the people eating. That isn’t a price. That is hoping your customers will do what you should be doing which is provide for your employees.

Same problem when people are understaffed. "Oh tip them well and praise them for how well they are doing in such poor conditions. " No, have some respect for yourself and find a better job with a boss that cres about your wellbeing.
