My favorite has to be this one comment :

far left: works in theory, but has never worked in practice. far right: has worked for as long as empires have existed.

I’m not even sure I 100% understand what they are trying to say since the empires he is probably talking about don’t exist anymore (unless he is aware of the US one).

I refuse to interact with anyone who says “coMmuNiSm onlY wOrkS In tHEorY!”

It’s the most level-0 anti-communist talking point out there, so it’s automatically indicative that anyone who says it isn’t educated enough to entertain without wanting to bash your skull in. They want to sound like they have a solid argument against communism without actually knowing anything about it basically. It’s how you know they truly fell for the capitalist propaganda bait.

At the most charitable interpretation it still makes that person look like a dipshit. “The stateless, moneyless, classless society envisioned as the highest state of communism has never been achieved, therefore mild social democracy can’t work”.

seeing the “works in theory, not in practice” argument in the year of our lord 2024 after being in my cosy Hexbear+literature bubble is like being a quantum physicist writing groundbreaking papers on chromodynamics and only talking to his colleagues about the latest theories and developments and then walking down the street and hearing a guy explaining to his friend that he thinks the world is made of fire, air, earth, and water
