There’s a bitter irony in that the regime colonizing, jailing and oppressing these indigenous liberation movements right now, have also come around to widely recognizing Mandela as a hero, and the struggle against apartheid colonialism is righteous… but only where liberation already happened.

I think it speaks to the growing political sentiment that the french apparently don’t want this rigged trial to happen in a place with public sympathy for the accused.
