I’ve wanted a nice modern mountain bike for years, so I finally went and got one. There are lots of trails near where I live – including some right in my back yard. Today I drove about 10 minutes to a nice place I had heard about, and it was a really good ride. Easy enough that I could do it, but hard enough that it was a challenge.

Hunting isn’t allowed here except in some designated places, and only for 1 or 2 months out of the year… and only if the deer population is deemed too high, and even then they only allow bow hunting. Still, ya never know. I should get some cool orange clothes.

Cool! Nothing like a woodland setting. Here in the mid-Atlantic, where it’s 96°F and (what feels like) 96% humidity, I’ve been doing laps on the trail between my easy chair and my refrigerator.

Nice to hear that your new bike is satisfying and cool photo! It’s kinda interesting to note that this forest/woodland area looks very similar to the ones around where I live.

That’s super interesting, honestly. I’ve lived in 4 or 5 places in the eastern US and all of the woods were distinctly different. The woods here are my favorite of the places I’ve lived.

I actually found it pretty surprising too tbh. Most forests here in Thuringia are ‘Mischwälder’ , meaning they are a mix of both deciduous trees and conifers/pine trees. Means you have a pretty even mix of foliage and needles around everywhere. If I remember, I’ll snap a photo for you and post it to next week’s thread 😉
