I’m pretty concerned with where things are headed as well. We’re rapidly moving towards a new cold war with the western countries rallying around the US against the rest of humanity. On top of that, there are mounting problems within western countries themselves, which leads to rising internal tensions. I just can’t see how any of this ends well.
For my part, I’ve been learning Mandarin for the past two years, and I’m seriously considering moving to China at this point. Uprooting my life to move half way across the world is not something I really want to do, but I also increasingly feel that the west is moving in a direction that’s antithetical to my values and beliefs. Even if I’m personally comfortable living here, I just can’t feel happy living in such a society.
