It’s not just gun manufacturers, it’s gun retailers as well. Super easy to be put on a Pro-Trump list if you buy anything firearm related online.

And it’s nothing new! Probably 40 years ago now I bought a knife out of one of my dad’s catalogs, started getting mailings from the NRA.

Odd that Republicans don’t seem to care about being on a list of gun owners.

Many of them do care and there’s ample evidence of them pushing back when they find out about it. However ProPublica’s article on this has been directly challenged by the NSSF and they are publicly accusing PP of knowingly misrepresenting what they were told by the NSSF.

In short both PP and the NSSF have clear biases but much of what PP supposedly exposed has been known about for years and other things, such as the Cambridge Analytica part, are presented without evidence. ProPublica’s efforts were likely nothing more than last minute electioneering.

    Excerpt:

In a letter sent to the National Shooting Sports Foundation on Tuesday, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., questioned the legality of the “covert program” in which firearms manufacturers for years shared sensitive customer information with political operatives.
