I think it’s pretty cool that per-historic people had these massive industrial works that exported materials and engaged in long distance trade. Really shatters the image of ancient people as being spread in isolated tribes with little contact with anyone else.

and they mined 150000 tonnes of the stuff! deforested large swathes of their surroundings to smelt it!
like, hey, it’s winter time, lets go mine some copper for a few months on the ol’ copper tunnels, it’s warmer down there anyway
i wonder how much of that copper is still in use, recycled over the ages
