The Ivy League-educated suspect is accused of gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a midtown Manhattan sidewalk.
The only chance he has against the death penalty is jury nullification as the judge set to be hearing the case is already compromised due to his marriage to a retired healthcare exec.
Do you think there’s a chance he didn’t do it?
I don’t really know enough to say. They found a backpack with “monopoly money” in central park, however that could have had all the evidence that could have been planted on him in Altoona.
OTOH there is the YouTube channel and the online manifesto that aligns with someone who would have had strong motive to kill the healthcare CEO.
But honestly I don’t think the whole truth will ever be known.
If he’s guilty we have the truth already. I just find it very strange that he intentionally allowed himself to get caught.
Although I’ve heard that his family has a history of mental illness so I suppose that could theoretically account for that.
I don’t think mental illness necessarily factors into his being caught.
I do lean towards Luigi Mangione being guilty however the subject of his guilt I think is less important than the public outcry against health insurance companies and their abuses against the American people.
Also if he’s guilty that doesn’t mean we have the whole truth. NYPD especially have a history of interfering with investigations.
