Summary

China’s population declined by 1.39 million in 2024, marking the third consecutive year of decline as deaths outpace births.

Despite efforts to boost the birthrate, including financial incentives, restrictions on divorces and abortions, and allowing up to three children per family, rising living costs, youth unemployment, and cultural shifts deter young couples.

Beijing also plans to gradually raise retirement ages to address the demographic crisis.

Yeah, but it is a bigger economic problem when the population is contracting.

China isn’t alone with this issue, though.

If that’s true, it’s in the billionaires best interest to help, but I feel like their solutions are slavery or autonomous robots instead of wealth redistribution.
