With President Donald Trump’s so-called “Liberation Day” of tariff implementation fast approaching, Senate Democrats are putting Republican support for some of those plans to the test by forcing a vote to nullify the emergency declaration that underpins the tariffs on Canada.
I’m going to assume you’re not Canadian due to the “you guys” part and let you know that the $1.3 billion was already agreed to with Biden and was pre-allocated specifically for border control purposes at the end of 2024.
And yes, I did know that. But it’s my understanding that this was agreed to in an attempt to pre-emptively appease an incoming Trump administration, but I could be wrong on that part. But whether or not that’s the case, Trump still originally agreed to not put the tariffs in place because of this, until he changed his mind.

Sad to say, I’m an American.

Wait, what do Canadians say instead?
“We Canadians”
