More to the point, ignore shit content. Don’t comment or vote or read the page forever. Engagement is what they want, and hate engagement is just as good as any.

I like the spirit of this. But we also need to remember that “The Algorithm” isn’t a single thing. Each service has its own weights and calculations. Each algorithm is designed to do something specific.

Each service builds their algorithm to serve the ends of the ones who control that service. This generally yields an undemocratic system, by design.

Lemmy is pretty much an echo chamber for uh… non-conservatives(?) I guess?

I’m not trying to offend, just recognizing a large part of us Lemmy folks are in the same choir.

Same for more conservatives folks. They are probably saying the same thing, but of course we don’t see it much (here anyway).

And comment. The algorithms will see high engagement and show it more
