Any other average miata/mx5/roadster enjoyers here?
Omg Miata mentioned
Whoa, look, a Miata!
(tho irl I say ‘meowta’)A meowta is a mitata with cat ears mounted to the driver seat
Big miata admirer, I just think they’re so cute, and I’m a sucker for a convertible, even if they’re impractical as hell. It took all of my willpower not to buy a 20 year old Peugeot 206 cabriolet that I saw for cheap on local Craigslist.
I’m on my third one now!
I daily drive one of the NAs and I love the shit out of it despite the impracticality of it. Wonderful little cars.
I have a 91 I daily sometimes for months then I’ll switch to my 4Runner when I miss creature comforts
I used to have a crv before it but it has some issues I’ve been trying to fix. Hopefully soon I’ll have it back up and running and I’ll be back to having the option of bringing a table when needed :P
I had a 1995 NA, my favorite thing about it is that you could pretty much fix anything on it yourself with a wrench, tape, and glue. I never had to take that thing to a shop to do anything.
I (sparingly) drive an nb1 with only 55k on it 😎
It’s super fun. Got it on coilovers with a fat front sway bar. It is a better handling car than I am a driver. Sure is slow in a straight line and out of the hole though. spending $7k on a forced induction kit just doesn’t seem like a responsible way to spend that kind of money
Hear me out - if you still have the stock front sway and want to try a fun experiment, put the stock front sway on and remove the rear sway bar entirely. It feels more loose but with an aggressive alignment and sticky tires it will pull some impressive cornering Gs
edit: no idea if this practice works on the later trailing link cars, but the NA/NB double wishbone suspension responds well to it
The fat front bar with stock rear bar has a similar effect, I think. Zero body roll entering a corner, but it’s pretty tail happy, which is fun with only 100whp. Really gotta commit to get yourself in trouble. I’ve got a lower ratio LSD sitting in the garage for when I thought I was moving forward with the turbo project. I should swap it in but then I’ll be making the car 10% even slower
On the power front, de-belting my a/c was one of the best things I did along with a cheap-ass OBX header. I’m sure it only frees up a very small bit of power but the motor gets just a bit snappier. Always dragged my feet on putting it back on in the summer because once you’re used to the lack of drag adding it back in felt like choking the poor thing.
I have a 91, been thinking about piecing together a decent turbo build and just spending a little extra on a fancy tune. SakiBomb is a short drive from my house, they tune all kinds of Miata’s and RX7’s
I used to have a '99 midnight blue, I miss that car a lot and should never have sold it
I learned how to drive stick in an NB, it was a lot of fun
I taught my daughters on our NA : so small, so nimble, actually super-easy (and with the top down, unmatched situational awareness)
I’ve got an ND soft top
I got a 91! Just installed a hard top today too
For a while I had a convertible hardtop NC that I dailyed. I really enjoyed it. Several of my friends have NAs. I used to get bullied for my boat - but such is life. Haha
I got a 91 but an NC3 has been catching my eye. I wouldn’t mind the PRHT ones even though some say they look silly
I used to have to do a lot of miles on big roads, and especially in the winter in snow and rain etc I really appreciated the PRHT. Which I why I went for that model. Would recommend. I’d still have it except I ran it into the dirt and it was no longer economical to repair it, it’d done over 200k miles for me.
Mandatory “I should never have sold mine” contrib. In my defence, my SO is quitting her job to do 100% writing & theatre so I let go of my hairdresser’s toy to help with the money
Good news is they made a fuckton of them so when you’re ready again there will be another waiting for you
I must confess a (shameful?) soft spot for the NC. Just call me captain!

I don’t have a car, but if I had to have one I’d want a Miata. I just think they’re neat!
Other car manufacturers: “we must make our cars bigger over time.” Mazda: “NO.”
It looks cool. I liked driving it in Need For Speed.
I used to have a 95, it was a piece of shit but I miss it
