Saw this at the supermarket right next to a $24 magazine called “ChatGPT: Start your own business!”
Things are getting bleak. Hopefully in the future the only time we see shit like this is in history books showing propaganda during the fall of capitalism
This raises so many questions. Why is there a solar panel on the one guy’s helmet? Why is there a jellyfish warning sign? Is it just not a real beach in Australia until there’s some kind of deadly wildlife involved? Is the guy on the right Hamas? Why is the gun flaccid but also drawn by someone who has never seen a gun in their entire life? Why are there two ships in the background with very specific slightly different silhouettes?
I need some Ben Garrison level labeling on this.
From left to right:
The ‘warning jellyfish’ is because Labor is ‘spineless’ (the joke is that the jellyfish are on the sand not in the water)
The ships on the horizon are Chinese ships that travelled down the East coast of Australia earlier this year and got everyone in a tizzy
The starfish on the sand are arseholes
”Weak on defense”
lol, because
faces so many threats and all.
If you listen to ASPI (which our pollies do) you’d believe Xi Jinping has already moved into Kirribilli House
This clears things up because I thought it was Newt Gingrich and Ruth Bader Ginsburg with two other people, which would be odd for an Australian publication to put on their cover.
They are very poor caricatures, the artist can’t draw for shit
Thank you, this clears up a bunch of totally impenetrable deep cuts which are also very stupid. I especially would never have gotten the jellyfish thing.
Unhappy to help please don’t make me do libreading again
Because if there’s one thing that Australia is famous for lacking, it’s sunlight.
Bruh I live here and I’m just as confused
this actually gets more wild the longer I look at it, I’d say it looks like a water gun or laser tag gun or something except it has no trigger and his hand appears to be inside the stock
We may have seventeen school shootings per week, but at least our dumbass chud editorial cartoonists can draw a damn gun
like sure, it’ll be some monstrous AK/AR hybrid, but at least it looks like a real gun
it’s a bullpup of some kind which is mildly sensible, i think they used the steyer AUG for a while. some guns do have a full hand thing instead of a regular trigger guard but that’s more common in cold places because you can fit a glove in there or in places where you’re going to hit people with the thing because you’re a fascist piece of shit.
bullpup is a decent explanation, although there’s no magazine for us to tell if it’s a bullpup or a normal gun with a big stock…
i think his arm is covering it, that thing is really giving me aug vibes and the grip doesn’t look like it takes a mag
I’m not getting aug or even bullpup vibes from it, but it’s also not worth arguing over; even shitty art is art and is thus up to interpretation by the viewer.
i’m prepared to argue about this. if it’s meant to be a specific gun then one of the three of us (including the artist) is simply wrong.
including an example of a rails-less AUG for comparison.
I can sort of see an aug if I squint, but the caricature art style really makes it look like the handguard flows directly into the stock, and there’s not enough room for a mag in there. Also the barrel is just absurdly long for a bullpup, which I think is the main thing that’s throwing me. this looks to me like if you asked a version of midjourney which had never seen an AR or an AK to draw an assault rifle.
yeah i think the barrel is long because the flaccid wouldn’t come across as well if it were shorter… or that’s meant to be a suppressor?
